I picked this game up bout 3 weeks ago for 28 dollars on CL.
Its a laminated cab but all the orange paint was gone cept for a few spots, it had no backdoor, joystick didnt work and neither did the jump button, and the t-molding was kinda shot.

I cleaned it up. Added a backdoor, fixed the joystick and jump button and painted it orange. It could use some t-molding but other than that not a bad comeback from uglyness.

Nice work. It looks great. That's a really low serial number. I wonder if you have any pictures or description of the "orange paint was gone cept for a few spots". There were some rumors going around that the very first DKJR games were actually blue and not orange. This game is by far the earliest game I have seen.

thanks

no it had some orange under the cpo and a few spots on the cab. Because of the laminate I gues it peeled off over time or someone had tried to remove it. I didnt find any blue specs anywhere.

So you think the blue that was on it when you got it was not the original finish? It looks very close in the pictures. It seems like someone that would have painted it blue at one time would have taken care of all the extra holes and blemishes before they painted it DK blue.

Were the spots on the cabinet on the inside or outside? How about under the CPO. The control panel is black and there should never have been any orange on it to start with. If the orange was under the CPO on the inside of the cabinet I could see that.

The other neat thing about your cabinet is that it proves that not all Nintendo serial numbers started at 01000.

actually although the original picture before paint look "blue" it was actually more of a grey color. The orange paint was sporadic above the coin door and few specs on sides.

I had a DK Jr recently serial #635 and the cab itself was orange laminate but the wood panels inside that support the control panel on the left and right were blue laminate (probably made from scraps of a DK cab).

The weird thing I'm seeing is that, on my DK cab at least, if the laminate flakes off you're looking at plywood not at another colored surface. It seems odd that the orange would all come off like that. Something strange is afoot indeed. Maybe it was a blue cab that somebody preped and painted orange back in the day. That's why I'd be curious about what the control panel inside panels are like.
