I have a donky kong and over the last few days its seen a lot of play and it seems like the jump button has started to not respond 100%. It does work most of the time but it is not working sometimes. I swapped out the switch and that had no effect. Aany ideas on where to start?

You swapped out the switch or the button? Make sure your button connectors aren't corroded and are making good contact. Then inspect your wiring from the switch to the PCB. You could have a pinched wire or a wire than has worked itself loose somewhere. Have you tried cleaning the contact of the switch? I assume it's an original leaf switch?

Pull the control panel and pull the 2 wires off the jump button. Start a game and short the 2 wires together and see if you have consistant jump. If yes, then the switch is most likely bad. If no then check the harness to the board and make sure it's fine. - Barry

Thanks for the input. I cant really test for consistency by shorting the connector ends because there is not enough time to live before death. I did swap switches with the player 2 button but maybe its just time for a new one, I'll do that today.

I swapped out a switch as well, that did not work. I traced the schematic and IIRC, I found that there is a filter cap the line goes through before the IC. I replaced the cap, and apparently still have a problem. I cant remember if I then swapped out that IC or not.

Honestly, I am not good enough at DK to notice it, I need Ross or the ShanMan to come over and tell me when working or not.
