So I'm working on a Donkey Kong restore I have a couple control panel harnesses both have a wiring for an extra button (white wire) and the one CP have has a hole for it too in the wood but of course not the plexi.

What was it for another game?

All the DK cp harnesses have the extra wires that aren't used for anything.

This extra hole is present on all wooden Nintendo control panels, including the cabarets. It was used for Sky Skipper.

The KLOV listing for the game lists it as one button, but look carefully at the flyer images and you will see this extra button hole populated on both the upright and cabarets. On cocktails the extra button was stuck on the side of the control panel (easiest to see on P1, in orange). Watching video of the game, I'll be damned if I can figure out what the second button is for, but it's there on the flyer.

It's got 2 buttons. One button makes you go faster, and the other drop bombs. I assume the one mounted on the side of the CP on the cocktail is the speed button. Seems like you wouldn't need to use that one as much.

Actually the extra hole goes at least as far back as Radarscope. I wonder if it had to do with Space Firebird. It used 2 buttons instead of just one.

Negative. Space Firebird uses two side-by-side buttons and neither is in the DK "Jump" position. Likely a completely different panel altogether.

I did say "...on all wooden Nintendo control panels, including the cabarets," so yeah, that is inclusive of RS as well ;)

Though it would appear that Space Firebird and Demon uprights used side-by-sides, and Space Demon cabarets used a drastically different control panel layout (see below). So I guess not technically "all."
