Just wondering if someone with a two board working Donkey Kong would be willing to post a close up picture of the wiring to their 1 Player/2 Player switches? If I put more than 1 credit on the machine it automatically launches into a two player game - and with the Free Play kit this means it continuously loops games unless I turn free play off. I've replaced the switches and installed a new board for a different reason and the issue still exists, so I'm inclined to believe I might not have the correct wires going to the correct posts, and I can't find anything in the manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried simply disconnecting the switch entirely?

Also note that microswitches have three terminals. NO, NC, and COM. You want to be using the NO and COM terminals. NO stands for Normally Open, and NC stands for Normally Closed. If you have the start buttons connected using the Normally Closed terminals, it will be as if the start button was constantly being held down.

I've tried different configurations of disconnecting the switches. The statement you made about which terminals I should be using may be my issue - there are presently wires connected to all 3 terminals on both switches.

Yeah, that's definitely not correct. Only the NO contacts should be used. Nothing should be on the third contact. According to the manual (hopefully this info matches your particular game), the player 1 and player 2 switch wires are Yellow/Green and Blue respectively. The COM wire should be black on both switches.

Removed the wires from the NC connectors on both switches, and now the game does not launch into 2 players when credited. Unfortunately it only allows me to select a one player game, the two players switch doesn't do anything. So now I have two extra wires hanging loose.

In the attached picture there are black wires attached to the common posts, light green attached to the 1 player normally open, dark green attached to the 2 player normally open, a grey wire hanging loose by the 1 player switch, and a white wire hanging loose by the 2 player switch.

The white wire is not used in the Dk series.

You should be using the top 2 terminals when looking down at them. The blacks and dark greens are ground so you'll need one of either of these on the bottom terminals.

The light green is player 1 start - put that on the second terminal down of player one.
The light blue is player 2 start - put that on the second terminal down of player two,

Got it working - the "light grey" is actually the light blue wire I needed hooked up to 2 Player, and also there was a loose connection by the harness connector. Thanks all!
