I just recently picked up a DK that needs ALOT of TLC. I've heard alot about Asahi Seiko Coin Mechs however what is on there right now doesn't have any kind of lever and I am thinking someone removed the coin-stops. Anywhere that actually sells these coin stops? I'm thinking they were like, small rolled bars that screwed onto the mech. Not sure why they were removed but here's a pick of what I got now.

This is a what a complete DK coin mech face plate is supposed to look like:

There's good news and bad news regarding finding the replacement parts.

Asahi Seiko USA still makes most of these replacement parts like the face plate, bolts, push button, spring, etc.

Unfortunately, they started a policy last year where you have to make a $50 minimum purchase in order to setup an account and place your first order. The ironic thing is the coin mech parts are really cheap. So you either have to buy parts in bulk or invest in replacement coin mechs as well which run around $40 each I think.

Here is my post last year about getting my replacement parts: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=98976

Like I said in that post, they no longer carry the original small coin return cups. They only had those bugles (loops). I could be wrong as I haven't ordered from them in a while. Your best bet would be to post in the WTB section of KLOV. I'm sure there are guys that have extras laying around.

The 25c decal is made by Rick from ThisOldGame.com as part of his Nintendo coin decal set. The only guy who makes them for the actual faceplates and the best quality IMO.

I hope this helps.

Interesting. Thanks for that. Very informative. I'll see if I can find anything in the for sale area. It makes me just pull my hair out, why those were removed to begin with.

I would be willing to go in on a bulk buy of coin stops if you need more folks to get in on them. I have 3 of these mechs total, and only 1 has the coin stop. The other 2 need replacements. I also need a few extra springs, etc.

I'm sure if a few of us went together we could meet the $50 threshold pretty easily.

They probably all got removed because it's a pain to get a quarter out of one of those coin stops, and smaller coins fall right out (there's a slot in the bottom). The "hoop" type is really far more usable.

I imagine that the "cup" type coin stops got removed by operators because of people pounding on the mech to try to get their quarter out.

Interesting. That may be why the cup style Asahi Seiko sells now is larger than the ones from back in the day.

The type of mech also depends on your cab. If you are lucky enough to have a (Japanese) Red DK cab, it should be this mech with the bugle return:

As you guys can see I'm still desperate because I'm still missing ONE of the mounting bolts BOOHOOHOO !

No way I'm going to order 50 bucks of stuff plus int. shipping for just that.....sooooo if anyone has a spare single one...... :D

That's a good idea. I looked at Mikesarcade return cups. That's not bad. However I'm thinking it doesn't come with the screws. But I don't think the Vishai bugles come with the screws either from what I've read. It would probably be difficult to find them whatever their size is.

Are you sure about that? All of the red DKs I've seen, the ones that appear to have original parts anyway, have the cups. They do all have the push button style though.

Well I may just do the Mikes Arcade thing being I had to pickup some bolts for a SI CP I bought from Thisoldgame. And I wasn't going to pay 9.00 shipping for 2.50 in carriage bolts. I also have his Donkey Kong bezel in my Shopping cart.
This silly thing has a DK3 bezel and a DK Marquee along with a DK CP that's had lit cigarettes burning down across the 1/2 player selection buttons.

If it was me I would order 2 new complete mechs,2 face plates and 2 trumpets from Asahi.
I would then put the new mechs on my DK and put the new face plates and trumpets on the old mechs and then sell them to recoup most of your $$.
I figure you could sell the old mechs for at least $30-$40 for the pair.
Then you have brand new mechs for about $35-$40.

Well I went to AhaiSeiko's site, didn't see where they listed any prices. I'm presuming it's the KWM-740 I'm looking for. I didn't see any online order ability, so I'm guessing I'd have to call them for pricing and ordering info?

Like I said, read my previous post about ordering: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=98976

I have prices and numbers on parts that I ordered and contact info for Michael Sparto who is their main sales rep. Though, I would just contact him to request parts and prices as they may have changed since last year. Their website is purely informational and the best way is to order via email. FYI, every little part is has its own individual number even down to the e-clip that holds the spring to the push button. So don't assume he'll sell a complete face plate pre-assembled.

Crap, the link to the pdf manual is dead. No way to find part numbers for other parts of the assembly. Have a part number for the screws that secure the faceplate to the unit by chance?

Sorry, I didn't have to order those as I just used the old ones I originally had. Just email Michael. He'll answer all your questions, give you part numbers and prices. It's easier to go direct to the source.
