Donkey Kong has no sound

I received a monitor for my DK and while the picture is working, the sound was this horrible loud shrill/whine noise that was continuous with no sign of any DK sound.

I had an extra monitor (that wasn't working) and pulled the sound board off of that and swapped it out, but this time got no sound at all. The person who sold me the monitor sent me another sound board, but with this one, I simply got a light hum.

I decided to swap out the transformer with the transformer of the non-working monitor, but that didn't change anything.

I've spent hours trying to figure out why there's no sound and have ran out of ideas. I was hoping somebody might know something to push me in the right direction.

My DK jr didn't have sound when I got it. So I rebuilt the sound amp with Bob Roberts' kit. Then when it still didn't work, I found the sound cable had been unplugged from the game PCB. So once I plugged that in, there's a connector labeled "tv sound", it worked great. Just my two cents, you're likely more intelligent than me though. =)

I have an edge connector (Dokert/Barry Harness), so I would assume that sound is indeed coming out of the PCB.

My Mario Bros came to me with the speaker wire cut because of a HISS that replaced the sound. Funny thing is...when its really quiet in the shop (not often) I can hear the sound! I just got the kits today to cap the monitor and sound board and will be doing it this week.
