Donkey Kong Board Wiring; Second set of eyes please?

So Donkey Kong is my first Nintendo game that I've owned and I've never worked with a game that didn't utilize a single edge connector.

I just got a good board from Mikesarcade.com and I want to make sure my wiring is correct before I power it on. (nothing was hooked up when I bought the game)

Here are some photos:

Also is this small circuit board on the flyback transformer for anything? I cant seem to find a use.

That small circuit board is a video inverter that you don't need to use. The hook up looks fine, just make sure the PCB and the Video Board do not touch when you power up to prevent a short. I would also to be sure check the 2 connections on the audio board on the monitor to make sure they are correct. They are labeled, but if backwards will fry the audio on the boardset. - Barry

Good advice, connections look good to me but put a piece of old cardboard or something in between those two boards ASAP!

so, looking at the pics, i have to ask, is that a 2 board set being used with a 4 board harness? if so, i didn't know they were compatible...

I powered the game up and am getting nothing on the monitor. I'm getting a little blueish snow but nothing else.

I have several other games. Can I plug the machine into one of the other monitors?

Does it play blind/have sound? If so check to see that the video cable isn't upsidedown on the pcb or monitor side.

The neck glow in the monitor is coming and going. Like it will come on when you first power on the game but will go out after a minute. Is that a tube issue or a chassis issue?

Dammit. I take that back, now I'm essentially getting nothing out of the monitor. And because the sound and monitor are integrated, I dont think I'm getting sound either. There is no glow in the neck at all. When I turn it on there is a high frequency tone for a few seconds, then it goes away and theres just an underlying hum coming from the speakers.

I'm not quite sure what happened. I bought this game dead so I dont actually have any idea the state of this monitor. I just assumed it was good because before I was getting at least static. Now nothing.

Should I start with capacitors?
