I did some touch up paint on my Donkey Kong Cab today. Seems the paint I have is a tad bit to light. Anybody have a good Donkey Kong Blue as close to the original as possible.

There are many threads on this very issue. the search engine would serve you quite well.

The cabinet is faded. chances of you matching it are slim to none using anyones paint codes. You need to try to have your cabinet paint matched and even then no gaurantees.

Sorry all I saw was DK Red. I didn't search for it figured some kind soul would provide the info for me.

The paint I put on my cab today is to light. The blue still pretty dark on the cab. So might be faded but I don't think by much.

Egads - did everyone miss the double DK resto thread? I gave this info in it:
I posted codes here:
http://forums.arcade-museum.com/show...ey+kong&page=3

I had color matching done from parts of the machine that had never seen daylight. DK Blue and DK Red colors provided.
Even color matching is not 100% accurate but these are about as close as you can get to the real deal.

And yes lighting can make paint look too light, too dark, too green too blue. Unfortunately your stuck taking the word of someone that might not know their ass from a hole in the ground. ;)

This is what I used. I found it on some web page looked pretty good to me but it's a bit to light.

Here the result sorry this is my cell phone camera. I think I'll do some fine sanding next time if I do get a good match. Just hoping it would be a easy fix.

I've gone through all the posts on this before and found out that, if you're doing touch up paint, the only thing you can do with any sort of reliability is get custom paint matched you YOUR cab. You'll need to pull a chip or take off the front panel where the speaker is to take in for matching.

Paint codes are not reliable for various reasons. For example, if the code is for benjamin moore and you go get Behr paint, the colors won't match. Latex paint codes won't match with oil base and vice versa. Moreover, I seriously doubt that all of the DKs had the exact same paint color/hue/ect. from the factory. You could probably match to the serial numbers right next to your serial number, but I doubt there would be an exact match if you put serial number 32,000 next to serial number 52,000.

Now if you're painting the whole cab, it might be just as well to match to paint code from someone else's cab because you're just looking for something that is generally authentic to DK blue and you don't have to match to the specific paint put on your cab from the factory.

Bottom line is, the best way is to get your own code from your own cab and do some test trial and error to make sure it actually matches.

Yeah think I'll do that then. Take the control panel off and take it in. Maybe I'll paint my Xbox 360 DK blue with the to light stuff.
