I just got my first DK cabinet and I am having trouble with the sound. It just plays random sounds all the time! Even when it is not in use and no sound should play it will play random sound effects and noises. During game play the sound is all messed up as well. I'm pretty new at this so if anyone can help or point me in the right direction that would be great.

Others should chime in, but the first thing I'd look at is a audio board rebuild kit. You can get these from Bob Roberts. The sound board is that little board with all the knobs to the left of the monitor.

I put a refurbished audio board in it and I am still getting the same result. Now there are 2 small boards the left of the monitor, the one I changed was the one in the rear, the one in the front that has all the knobs I did not think was the sound board. Can anyone explain what exactly is what in regards to these 2 boards?

Thanks again!

My bad. You're correct Jerry. The sound board is in the back, without the knobs.

Sound CPU gets its cues from the main CPU so if its playing legit sounds just randomly its a control issue between the z80 and sound CPU.
