Nice!!! I need to give good old DK some love tonight.

Still stuck at 269k on DK ...

But I am way over 300k on DK Junior if that counts for anything ...

Congrats. My high score is still around 160K, but I haven't played for a while until last sat when I only got up to 127K on my third game. Now that my Berzerk is working I might get back into this again and try to get my card as well.

I dont think I would ever send a arcade score to twin galaxies because I try not to move my machine to much and they dont accept double donkey kong scores.

I do have the record on TMNT for NES on the Wii's virtual console with a whopping one other score in that game besides mine.

Figured i would rehash this thread since i accomplished something yesterday!

Well for about a year now i haven't been able to crack the top score in my DK which was 52k (not set by me). My highest has been 48k. Warlord stopped by Monday and after fixing my controller, it had an 8 way in it vs. the 4 way, decided to put a score up of 109k taking first on my machine. I know he's better then that as he was just tossing out a measuring stick for me

I played for about an hour yesterday eclipsing my record 2x's but never getting past 50k then on my "this is my last game" not only did i beat my record and that measly 52k that's been on my machine forever, i blew it up with 88k! I got to third elevator for first time with 2 guys left and had no clue what to do

Time to enter then 100k club today!

Someone posted this picture not to long ago and I stole it because it was a good help for me to see what exactly I am looking for when tackling the third elevator board.

You want to run on B, and if the next spring is another B then you need to run back and wait for a B then run and climb the latter when the spring after B is an A spring.....Get all that? *L*

Since you rehashed this topic I want to apologize for my dumbness for suggesting people to set their lives to unlimited for practice then reset to 3 lives when they improve. I just got my D2K kit 2 days ago and didn't realize it doesn't have the unlimited option that my double donkey kong board has. Not sure if any other board has the unlimited lives option.

There are some YouTube videos about the third elevator board which are helpful. Practice makes perfect. The nice thing about that board is that once you have it mastered you should never lose a life on an elevator board. Never gets harder than the third one.

Well gee, now my idea of the DK 70,000 pt. club seems kind of lame...

Using save states on MAME is also helpful for places that are giving you trouble. I've used that in the past for the 3rd elevator, advanced pie factories, and working patterns on later rivet boards. Three years ago I could barely crack 150k. And as of a few months ago I kill screened at just over 984k.

Congrats! DK3's a tough game. That's about my high too, 321K. I think that's about the point where some of the enemies have changed to the faster ones and Kong starts throwing the coconuts (or whatever they are) on every board.

Good News/Bad News

Congratulations on everybody's scores!

The good news is that I broke my high score tonight with 311,800 on Donkey Kong.

The bad news is that I had 288,000 without losing a single life and only beat my previous high by 8,000 points.

But what's fun is that I found a new way yesterday to press for points on the first barrels. If this makes any sense... instead of waiting to get that 100 pts for the falling blue barrel, I run right up to the 3rd level, jump that barrel, then run down a level and jump the same one again. Then similar jumping twice over the same barrels, then get the lower hammer to hit the fireball, then more of the same. I'm starting to think that waiting on the blue barrel then jumping near the fireballs does no better and I die a lot that way. I'll try to get a YouTube vid of it up but I've gotten 8,900 points this way without pressing on the level below Kong ala Hank Chien. I'm sure this isn't new--nothing is new on DK.
