I have a donkey kong 3 and my sound is extremely too low and it's buzzing a good bit, I know it's not the sound board as I just got one that's recapped and I verified that it works by trying it out on my dk jr. I also tried swapping the part that is directly below the sound board (not sure what its called) it has 4 wires (the one with the two prong connection to the sound board on it) still no luck I have double checked the speaker and tried using another speaker.. still nothing. any other suggestions? Thanks!

It's not uncommon to have a Nintendo buzz a little but there's a point of being unacceptable as well. If you have any other Nintendos around you know what that threshold is.
Enure you have grounds from the ISO/power supply to the monitor, coin door and your control panel. Try swapping power supplies out as well. I have seen faulty audio cables and the cable going from the audio board to the monitor chassis causing excessive buzz/humm. I would also say that the buzz/humm will stay the same volume when you turn up the audio and the game itself should get louder. I don't have a DKJR or DK PCB handy but I know the DK3 audio processor is a Z80A-DMA. See if your other Kong has that and you can try swapping the chips.

thanks. Is it possible to swap a dk jr board in there see if the sound is the same? I'm going to check out the power supply. I'm used to the humming from the dk jr but the sound is just not getting any louder, it's barely there and the hum gets louder as the volume is turned up. it feels like there's a bad ground in there somewhere I just gotta dig it out.

Does that cabinet have the ground plug on the AC adapter?
Sounds like a ground issue to me also. A power supply can be causing this noise as well. YEs you can plug your DKJR into your DK3 cab.

ok i tried swapping the power supplies from my dk jr and had the same results. im a little nervous swapping the boards i wanted to make sure. the dk jr i have doesn't have a cage and connector and the dk 3 does. so do i just remove the edge connector off the dk3 and connect it to do the dk jr? i just dont want to take any chances.

Yes remove the DK3 board set and install the DKJR. DKJR will use accept the harness from DK3 just fine.
