Well, i just got my 4th 200k game. My high is 217,000. Does the game ever have a difficulty level off point for you high scorers or does it keep getting harder all the way? i'm finally getting good at the 3rd elevator but now my usual deaths are the upper pie boards. The fireballs guard the heck out of the two ladders going up to the top. Any secrets fot this one? thanks

Level 5 is the peak for the difficulty and it stays the same from then on .

On the pie factory level , stand and wait right under the left flame , all the fireballs will jump out on the left side . Once all of them are out , run and go up the third ladder and go up the right side all the way to the top .

Congrats on the 200k I am working on that myself I am at 157k The pie screen is the easiest and hardest screen sometimes I do it in 20 seconds and other times I cant come close.

I don't believe it gets harder as you score higher. The game practically repeats with the usual random barrels, 3rd elevator type springs, 5 fireballs on the pie level, etc. I know DK starts throwing barrels down faster, but it reaches a peak I believe. I never really paid attention to that.

For the pie factory as they call it, my strategy is to get all the fireballs relatively to the same side so I can make a run for the other side. There's always a chance that they'll move over, but it's better if you try to get them all on one side. You should know by now that they spawn on the same side you're on. It's worked for me so far as I rarely die on this level.

My deaths mainly happen on the elevator stage by not watching the springs correctly or random barrels.

Why is it that sometimes on the 3rd elevator stage I am pretty sure I go on the correct spring but sometimes I still get hit when the spring right after it seems to be just as high?

There are two different types of springs, the ones that land before the first elevator (A) and ones that land on or directly aligned to the first elevator (B). When you run on a (B), the next spring could either be an (A) or a (B). If the next spring is a (B), you're most likely not going to make it. You have to watch out for the next spring to see if it's an (B) and turn back if it is. This takes a lot of skill considering how fast the springs are going. Someone posted an illustration of this before but you can find a video of it on youtube as well.

EDIT: Found the illustration -

Yea I have seen videos on it but your explanation is pretty good. I know which one to go on I just have to watch out for spring B so I will work on that. Thanks for the info. My problem is I can do pretty well but all of a sudden I will do something stupid and get hit I guess I will need more practice I got the machine 3 weeks ago so I guess I need to keep at it.

I can't do the 3rd elevator screen yet. I can get there with all of my guys but I lose them all trying to go up the last ladder. I've watched the YouTube video and I think it's only a matter of time but man is it tough! My high score is 89,900 (and the Top 5 on my machine are all within a couple thousand of that). I want to break 100k!!!

the you tube video helps. the key is to start running to the right as the spring passes over you. and to me the difficulty levels off after 300k.

The youtube videos I saw definately helped me see which one to go on. I can reach over 100k on average but thats a plateau I cant get to 200k yet.

You know, it's funny. If I try to score maximum points (using the hammers like the "pros"), I end up not getting very far and get low scores. My best scores have been from playing the game like I did back when it was NEW. Just trying to get through the levels as fast and efficiently as possible...

Thats what your supposed to do . Once you can get to the kill screen , then you you try to get as many points as possible . If you play to reach the kill screen as your focus you'll end up with around 800K .

Is there a way of knowing when the *Wild Barrel* is coming? It seems too Flower you if you try too jump out of the way of it.

No, there isn't. And that's the beauty and hatred of the game. It takes real skill to avoid wild barrels. But they tend to dictate whether or not you have a good game, right along with aggressive fireballs and stubborn spring patterns. There are some situations where you can do nothing about them. You can reduce your risk with positioning...but sometimes you can't do a damn thing once DK hucks one at you.

BTW, to the OP...congrats on breaking 200k.

I'm at 606k, still. Had a great game last week with 400k on my first life. Then 5 boards later I lost my last three lives on Pies. I was pretty upset.

It just comes down to how well you can flow with the game really.

Woo hoo!!! I just broke 100,000 for the first time! I got past the 3rd elevator stage (finally) and I was able to make it all the way to 104,600!!! I had no idea what I was doing on the 3rd elevator stage (I wasn't differentiating between the spring types) but I got past the last ladder in the safe spot and just went for it! I'm so happy!
