I just purchased a really nice looking DK 2 board set on ebay that was listed as having bad roms. However, after plugging the board in I found that I have no video sync. Please help.

Thanks

I found that I have no video sync

i'm guessing you've ruled out the header connector pin and the wire has continuity from connector pin to connector pin
maybe a double check of the harness connector pinout is the same ???

any problem with the monitor before or no

good luck

Look like a broken pot on the video pcb. You might be able to solder it back together. They do nrake at times during shipping.

yup.. check the two pots to see if they work or are connected to the PCB OK (V1 and V2 I think they are labeled?)

they kind of stick out and can get broken off or damaged pretty easy.

I had that happen to me once when someone shipped me a board set. The V2 pot broke right off in shipping and screen looked pretty similar.

No problem with the monitor. Works great with two other boards.

The one obvious thing I didn't check because it works great with two boards is the horizontal hold. :) That's the first thing I'm gonna check when I get home. Then if that doesn't work I'll check the pots. They seem to be in great shape, but they could be electrically shorted. I'll check that out and let you guys know.

Thanks!!

Got home and messed with the horizontal hold and everything is good as far as the sync. Now this is what i have.

Looks like blue drive and gain, possibly screen and the brightness pots need adjustment (there are 2 brightness pots - one on the remote board which is easibly accessible, and one sub-brightness on the chassis, which is in the upper right quadrant of the board, if you are looking at it from the back...have to come at that one from the side).

You're probably right. I didn't do any of those adjustments because my other two boards that I've used with this monitor worked fine without any adjustments between the two. It looks like the DK's output is much different than the other boards. I'll work on that tonight.

Thanks.

well i checked all the adjustments and it doesn't change the problems. Just gets lighter and darker. The only other thing that I think it could be is I did the color inversion mod to the monitor along time ago since at the time I didn't have a real inverter. It worked great. Now i'm inverting the DK back using the inverter. Is that a problem?

It was the inverter. I reversed the mod to the monitor and hooked it up and all is good. A $50.00 working 2 board DK set. :) I still have a small graphics glitch. But other than that it's good.

Thanks for your help! I'll probably be asking about the glitch soon if I don't figure it out on my own.

Thanks again!
