He only had 3 of them when I did this project and only his Star Wars had a riser. He stated to me that he was either going to build risers or build a single riser that goes across his one wall to put all of his machines without risers on. I think last time I asked him he was leaning toward the single riser set-up. Either way I did give him what left over paint I had and the white edge banding if he decides to build a single DK riser.Very nice. Does he not run risers on his 1ups?
That would be a cool idea. Do you know if there is a scan line generator for HDMI. When using the PiZero, the video output is HDMI. I then use a HDMI to DVI cable to connect to the monitor.
For 25 or so dollars you can get a scan line generator dongle that plugs into the monitor. Looks pretty good on a svga crt monitor. Haven't seen them on lcd's. I got mine off Amazon.
I like the one built into CRT the best also. Why would you use a scanline generator on a CRT monitor when the scan lines are already there since it's a CRT?
Running mame on a computer with an svga monitor looks just as crappy as a lcd. That "scanline" look is on lower res monitors. Why would you use a scanline generator on a CRT monitor when the scan lines are already there since it's a CRT?
I did pick up a few of those units and they do work quite well. I got mine from AliExpress as they were $10.00 cheaper at the time I purchased them (just had to wait a month to get them). I'm currently using one in my new TRON thincade build. I do have one issue with these units, but most people aren't going to run into the issue. Here's a link to that: https://forums.arcade-museum.com/threads/thincade-diy-arcade-project.446886/page-6#post-4410210
I don't personally know if it works or not, but the reviews and pics seem nice.
Well, I'm not a programmer. My wife is the one who set this up for me. All I know is she had to write a script to check the GPIO on start-up. The switch just grounds out two different GPIO locations. If none of the locations are grounded DK starts-up. If one of the other two is grounded, one of the other two games starts up. Obviously one pin is DKjr and the second pin DKIII. Outside of that, I don't know. This is absolutely awesome! Are you willing to share the method you used to get the switch and software to work? I'm pretty new to the Pi, but I have a spare 3B+ sitting here that I would love to do something like this with!
