I bought a Dolly Parton pin just the other day. When I turn it on it lights up and game starts displays work. However when it starts it will kick the ball out into the plunger lane. but after that that is it. None of the pop bumpers work flippers dont work and so on it also will not score no matter what the ball hits. I put it into test mode and all the bumpers and everything appears to go thrue a test and work at that point. My question is the mpu board does have some acid damage on the bottom of the board would this cause this type of problem or should I be looking more at the driver board? THANKS

Let me just be clear about the problem. The game boots, starts a game and kicks out the ball but then no solenoids work? BUT the solenoids work in test mode?

That tells me that some or all of your switches are not registering.

The playfield switch strobes and returns are all on MPU connector J2. I would take a look at that connector. Maybe it's disconnected? Then try the switches in switch test.

If it's connected and everything looks normal but switches are not registering I would consider pulling that connector then putting the game in switch test and manually shorting each strobe to each return one at a time and see if the switch closures register with the MPU. If they do then you know you've got a connector or wiring problem. If they don't you know you've got an MPU problem.

Corrosion on the 5101 RAM could cause something like this I guess but it wouldn't be my first thought.

Just my $.02

EDIT:

I'm pretty sure Clay has a more detailed explanation of the test I mention above here:
