The Atlanta craigslist has been nothing but overpriced MAME machines and people asking $1500 for $300 machines since the beginning of the year. Is this happening all over, or is this localized to us?

My CL has no games listed. Occasionally there will be a console game listed under 'arcade' but no real games.

Of course I am not in a highly populated area!

Minneapolis has been pretty good the past few months for JAMMA stuff. Not much in the way of classics, although I did just see a WoW and Defender recently.

I track all of the Ohio CL sites via RSS search feeds in google reader, and there is pretty constant activity. However, almost everything I've been interested in has been in Cinci, Dayton or Toledo, rarely in Columbus.

LOL! You mean you aren't interested in the $1500 Ms PacMan or the $2000 mame unit?

No but I was very close to getting that Gauntlet 2 that was listed last Tuesday, until the guy tells me he talked to the wife and they decided to keep it. I figured someone offered him more than he had listed it for. I hate CL.....

Hasn't the Atlanta Craigslist always been that way?

It's maximum price on everything, and whenever a good deal does happen to show up, a retailer or professional flipper snaps it up instantly.

Atlanta

The atlanta one sucks!!! Prime example . There is a donkey kong with probs in milledgeville,ga. The guy wants 500.00 or a car with ac. Theres no pic.. Ill tell you why. I went and picked up a vs gradius from him and saw that dk..in orange..i offered 150.00..and i was really being generous. He said he wouldnt take less than 500.00 hard to pay 500.00 for a machine that has a blown monitor. Not in its original cabinet, nothing but sratched up repro art and spray painted with cans from the local auto parts store.so i passed. Funny thing is 2 days later i found a red donkey!!!!!

I just looked at my local craigslist and found:

Pac Man cocktail for $2500.00
Tekken 3 $200.00
Astroid (sic) $1400.00
Empty Tron cabinet $free
Rush N Attack $250.00 (This guy has been trying to sell this for at least 2 years.)
Asteroids Deluxe $500.00
Pac Man (Which is actually a Pac Mania) No price given.
Area 51 / Maximum Force $350.00
Galaxian $200.00 (Needs a bulb for the screen – it will cost $100.00 for the bulb – he already checked)
Arcade Video Game $400.00 (It's a Magic Sword in the photo)
X-Men $450.00
Terminator $450.00

I was actually surprised that there wasn't a Neo Geo listed; there are usually at least 3 of those for sale at any given time.

It's usually hit or miss here. Sometimes you can find some amazing deals and others, it seems the seller really thinks he's sitting on gold.

Northern Virginia is not that great at times then sometimes a couple will pop up at once.

Mine sucks as well. People selling overpriced junk seems to run all across America these days.
It actually becomes amusing when you see how people word their description of said item. Then post terrible grainy pictures to boost sails. LOL So to find something worth a damn is hard to come by. And when it does they are gone within like minutes after the posting.

I swear there appears to be this one guy who posts about wanting to "Buy your old arcade machines and pinballs" He maybe owns and runs an arcade vendor business. He or they appear and vanish like a thief in the night. Quickly taking all the good deals right before your eyes.

But I did get a good trade yesterday, and that was pure luck! I've should of went and bought a lottery ticket yesterday with that luck.

Some jackass here in Grand Rapids posts free pickup of unwanted pinballs and arcades all the time. Or was for a while. Of course he's spamming the free pick up
of unwanted appliances, or anything metal too. Whee.
