I have a groove around the entire base of my Machine and was wondering if there was a large piece of blue molding installed around the entire base out of the factory.

Toobin' does indeed have molding around it's base. It's black. Most cases it gets chewed really bad.

I do believe it's the same molding the Star Wars Cockpit uses. I've been needing to replace mine as well.

it does have base t-molding indeed. i used a simple black version instead of the star wars stuff on my machine because i thought it fits the machine much better than that scifi-stuff ;)

Yeah the black molding is like poo.

Where did get yours? T-molding.com?

It's supposed to be ribbed, black. I bought a length of the SW cockpit molding, as it's the closest thing available, but... The t-molding wouldn't even begin to stay in the slot. I just never got around to fixing it. The proper fix would probably be filling the slot with a strip of wood and glue, flush/trim bit with router, then recut the slot. Putting the game on it's back and doing that just hasn't gotten me excited. Maybe a winter project.

yepp! here's a pic of my toobin base ...

Looks good. It would be nice if we had a bunch of different molding's installed so we could compare them and see which looks best.

... sounds like a cry for Photoshop!

i know, but as i've said before: i think that the simple black version looks much better on the cab because it fits perfectly with the black base!

The t-molding wouldn't even begin to stay in the slot.

agreed! it was a pita because the t-molding is so thick and sturdy. i need some glue and a hot-air gun to make it stick / bend, but in the end it was totally worth it. makes the machine look so much better!

What color blue is the molding to get for the rest of the cabinet?

I have some dark blue molding, but that's too dark. Would the light blue (t-molding.com) be right or is it a custom blue color that I won't be able to find?

Thanks,
Greg

There is the dark blue and the lighter blue, available from Arcadeshop, t-molding.com, etc..

The original molding is closer to the light blue that's available, but the original is darker than that. The correct shade isn't available. I was VERY picky about putting the wrong color on mine, but what was on my cabinet wasn't great and I had to re-vinyl and decal the control panel sides. I went with the light blue and it is close enough that after it's there, it shouldn't bother you and it looks great.

Closest match for the base t-molding I found is the SW cockpit molding, but the slot is too big so it won't stay in at all. I'm going to fill the slot on my base with bondo and recut it with a slot cutting bit.

Thanks guys! I guess I'll order some of the light blue t-molding then.
