Does this Elvira Belong to anyone 'round here?

A guy just did a best offer to me. There's a "Blackout" pin in Chilliwack I was interested in. He said make an offer. I said 500 if it's nice. He came back and said he had 2 offers at 1750CAN. What a freakin liar. I just laughed it off. He sent me an email a day later saying he sold it and thanks for my interest. Complete bullshit for sure...

I hate when people do that.

Ditto. And in this case, it gets even more frustrating...

I am SERIOUSLY interested in this machine (as in traveling and handing over cash for it), but of course, I'd like to know more about it than what the Craigslist page has to offer. So I send the following to the owner:

Hi,

I'm interested in the Elvira pin, and was wondering if you had some better pictures of it you could send to me?

Thanks!

A day later, I get this:

I will take 1000 for pin mike 555 555 5555

So I replied back and apparently killed the deal, as my repeat request for pics seems to have ended all "communication":

Do you have any better pictures than what's on the Craigslist ad?

Thanks!

And it's been like this for the last 2 weeks. I am a serious buyer looking to add another pin to my collection, and my attempts at getting pics and info (that go beyond the crappy bits of non-information on Craigslist) on 4 different machines have been futile.

Nobody wants to send pics, detail machine condition, tell me how much they want for what they're selling, or hell...even have the courtesy to reply back at all.

If you simply can't be bothered to sell something properly, why even start the process? Especially high-dollar items like pins.

i saw this one too...

and i totally agree on your take...seems more often than not, asking questions "kills the deal" - i'm not sure if it's because they are getting more offers than they can shake a stick at (unlikely) or because they just figure if you want it bad enough you'll make or accept an offer/price without them having to do any more legwork to sell it (more likely).

either way, dealing with craigslist sucks quite often...

oh, and another pet peeve: selling an item and not taking down the listing for weeks and weeks. uggggghhhhh.

Craigslist definately has some dumbass people trying to sell their stuff. The best things I like are a pinball machine listed for sale, no game title, no price, and half the time no contact info. The other one I like is this has sold on ebay for $$$$$ , but I'm only asking half of that.( which is still way to high. )

My favorites are the ads that say, "XXX Pinball machine - $500!!!!!1"

Then you click it, and the body text says, "Hi, I have XXX pinball machine for sale for $1200."

I'm always tempted to write them back saying that I'll take it for $500, like the title of the ad says.

And what's with the a-holes who put $1 in the title? I know it's not really a dollar. You're fooling no one. You just look like a douche.

I made one last attempt at striking up a deal on this pin yesterday morning:

Hi,

I am seriously interested in buying this pin, but I just need to know more about it before making a decision. I would come by to check it out in-person, but you're about 4 hours away from me. If I'm going to make that kind of a trip, I would be doing so with the intent of making the purchase.

I would love to see some extra pictures of the game, and detailed information about the game's cosmetic shape and working condition would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The results? Nada. Nothing.

So, I guess I give up. Clearly I've insulted the buyer over the last few days by expressing a real interest in giving him $1,000 for an item he no longer wants. I'm such a douchebag. :/

(The same goes for the "Sorcerer" that I also saw on Craiglist and had been trying to get info on.)
