Because I see them for sale all the time and they're usually dirt cheap.

The cabinet isn't the coolest looking that's for sure.

It's not bad. I see more golden tee's for sale to be honest.

If you can get the multipack Bowl-o-Rama. it's got the regular capcom bowling in it and 2 other bowling games.

Yeah, it sucks. Very boring & repetitive.

I was however able to trade my Capcom for a World Class Bowling Deluxe AND Pole Position II. You just have to find someone that hasn't owned it, if you plan on unloading it in the future.

The dedicated cabinet is very cool. Wood like a bowling lane, and trackball like a bowling ball. I wouldn't kick it out of my arcade.

It was fun BIID, but it's been one-upped many times since then.

Yeah, the dedicated is very cool looking. I've never seen one in the wild though.

Most of the ones I've seen have bowling ball trackballs. Kids like the little animations that play when you bowl.

It's not a game I play a lot but when people come over they really like it because it's something a bunch of people can play and if you turn off the timer you can take your time with a group of people and drink a few beers while you bowl. I do have the dedicated cabinet and its very cool.

A friend of mine once did an even swap - he got a fully working nice Tempest in exchange for a Capcom Bowling. (And the guy getting the Bowling and giving up the Tempest was ecstatic about the deal!)

That's a dedicated upright but not the one I was talking about. The really cool one is like a flat table on a pedestal mount, with cup holders and a cool monitor mount. I think there's a pic of it on KLOV

Interesting. I don't think I've seen pics of it and I didn't see it on KLOV unfortunately.

I have a dedicated upright too and I love it. I think the game gets too much of a bad rep at times just because it was soooo common and many classics were converted to it. The replay value for playing by yourself can suffer, but it's one that anyone can pick up and play.

I think this is what you were talking about its a Rockin Bowl-o-Rama, pretty sweet looking.

I can't believe Capcom Bowling isn't getting more love here... :D
The reason you see them for sale so often is that it was possibly the most frequent conversion kit installed BITD(second only to Arkanoid). I've seen some fugly Capcom Bowling conversions. I think my favorite conversion is Taito Qix style cabs and I'd love to some day own a dedicated Lane Wood cab like SpartyMAC's.

Maybe it's more nostalgic to me because I chunked endless quarters into one BITD, but I love Capcom Bowling. The side animations and realistic sounds make it one of the best bowling games ever released IMO. I can't imagine a gameroom without a Capcom Bowling in it's lineup...

I pulled a HUO dedicated version out of the home of a former VP from the company that was making the cabinets. They didn't cut the hole for the lock on the back door and it has hand written serial numbers inside. Super clean with the large 4" bowling ball patterned track ball. It's a fun game and gets a lot of play during parties and people laugh when you change it to the "adult" setting and get to see bad 8 bit boobies.

LMAO! I turned on "risque graphics" a while ago and still haven't seen any 8-bit titties. I thought that option just turned on the legs. Guess I need to hit more strikes :001_sbiggrin:
