Does bubbles suck?

I built a Tiny Bubbles, I restored a full-size Bubbles and I built a cabaret Bubbles. Sometimes I like to fire it up on the Jrok and scoot around the sink a few times myself. Hell I think I may even love Bubbles. But even after all that, I still don't own a Bubbles. Curious.

People like all kinds of these games. There are games that are favorites of mine that few others seem to like and there are games liked by many that don't seem to be my jam.

That said, I've never really loved the game but I don't think it sucks, either.

I do think you'd do well to finish your project and sell it, though. Shouldn't have a hard time finding a buyer.

All of those are actually pretty awesome looking cabinets. I would love a Sinistar cabaret or bartop.

Just for the record, I don't think Bubbles is a bad game, it's definitely a good effort by Williams in their attempt to make their own "cute game". It's just not my preferred cup of tea.

I think that bubbles is a game you've got to 'get into'. Play a few games, get through some levels... then it really gets addictive.
It can also be absolutely infuriating to play, which makes me keep going back to it.

Bubbles is a helluva game really. I almost never played it BITD, but when I discovered it via the Williams emulation pack that was released way back around 1995 or so for Windows PCs, I quickly got hooked.

So when I was then building up my actual arcade collection in the early 2000s, I decided Bubbles was definitely a worthwhile addition. And once I became an owner and played it even more, I realized it was just as "classic" as any of the other Williams games of the time.

I got quite good at the game after a while..not as good as Gregatron got (RIP), but close as I was able to get scores over 1 million.

Perhaps when you first play it, you might not see the appeal, but play it more and more, and I think most of y'all will come to the realization that's it's a great game...well worth being in the pantheon of the Williams classics.

Brought mine to pretty much every CAX since I picked it up, and it should be there again for this year's show.

To be honest, I owe my love of Bubbles to Spaeth (of all people). I walked him to his minivan (thats not a dig, its actually brilliant for a parts pic!) And apparently I did it soley cuz I like his popeye calves in his cargo shorts (we wont get into the real reason)

He told me about the duramold on the loading dock.. outside. I actually hadnt heard of Bubbles before then.

In a RARE Mark move, he explained that it didn't matter if I knew it or not, if you can buy it...buy it. Youll get it later.

Im sure he meant the duramold being sobrare... hood advice for a new collector... but after that, I was hooked on all things Bubbles. I have shit for it, due to people here, that nobody else has.. schematics for the duramold, original films. I have a woody and a duramold, now 2 mobiles... even the films for a cabaret Bubbles DURAMOLD cpo.

Im a Bubbles adict now.. and its all Marks fault!

You had the cabaret CPO films all this time and you never told me? Christ, I scratch built one of these four years ago and had to re-create the damn thing from scratch.

Its for a cabaret duramold. Rich upscaled it for the repro for the full sized duramold. It actually threw us for a loop cuz I thought I bought the films for the full sized duramold... but the film size was too small for the cp of a full sized one... it was odd all around... thats why I love this hobby

I've gotta clear some stuff out. I've got a bubbles project that I'm thinking of kicking on down the road. I've never played the game so no nostalgia and no space for it. Am I missing out if I send this packing? How does it compare to zaxxon?

If you are into a project for project trade I've got a Blue Print cab that could be a 6-pack cab or a Bump & Jump, B&J boards included.

I don't remember playing it growing up, so no nostalgia factor for me either, but I like it nevertheless. My wife's favorite games are Bubbles and Mr. Do. So it's a keeper for us.

Thanks everyone for the input a lot of good info. I think I'll see if I can try it on mame. I have zero space though and would have to get rid of something else to keep it. I had a 16ft trailer I was using for storage but i needed it for work so I had to empty it into a storage unit. I don't like wasting money on storage units so I'm trying to clear it out this month. I'll try and get some pictures of it posted.
