Ok here is the deal... Guy I work with has been looking for a Samurai for about 5 years.. There is one in this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300415735603&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

I've talked to the guy a few times and he isn't going to sell them individually... He thinks they are worth $6K and that Baby Pacman is worth $2500 alone. He says he can scrap them and get a $6K tax write off if they don't sell. I don't think it's an idle threat, I really get the impression that he will destroy these games after talking with him about the whole situation.. SO, here is what my friend Randy is offering:

He'll rent a box truck and will go pick up all 5 and bring them back to MD if 4 people will commit to the other games. The guy says they are all working, I can not verify this by any means but the games seem in decent condition from the pictures.

If you are interested in any of the other 4 please post with an offer. I'm acting as my friend Randy's liason here because he doesn't post on KLOV and no one has any history with him so I'm putting my name on the deal. Money would go into my Paypal before the auction is over, if he wins then we will go get the games and bring them back to MD for pickup. If not I will refund all funds the second the auction is over.

It might be a long shot but I can't stand by and watch these games go to the scrap yard without at least making an effort to save them...

I would be in for the Asteroids Deluxe. Let me know what I can do and how much. Does the AD work?

I can meet you on the way back from Buffalo back to Maryland.

Thinking something like

Asteroids Deluxe - $400
Stunt Cycle - $200????
Baby Pac - $600??????
Paper Boy - $400
Samurai - $400 paid by Randy

I really don't know on the Stunt Cycle and Baby Pac...Are those still worth anything??

So how do you get a "6K tax write off" for something you have had stored for 6 years. The guy's full of shit and trying to scare the price up.

It's possible, but I'm pretty good at reading people and I have a bad feeling on this one. The price isn't COMPLETELY out of line line for all those but it's still a good chunk of change.... If it wasn't for the Samurai I probably wouldn't be making an effort, but a friend asked for my help so I'm following through. You CAN do some pretty shady things with tax write offs.... If he has a business say what they are worth and can justify taking a loss then it can be done.

I don't know a 6K deduction @ 33% is $2000. I would think he would get red flaged by the IRS faster than you can say Al Capone, but hey i'm not Ronnie Deutch so what do i know about taxes. If you can pull it off @ $2000 and all the buyers are happy, then I have one thing to say. "Well played sir."

Yeah I don't really get it when people threaten to scrap stuff for a tax write off. I'm no tax expert but a $6k write off probably won't net over $500 in refund form. Am I wrong?

I gave the guy top 2% status as far as taxes, but looking at his E-bay listing he looks like a jerk-off with bad attitude to me. The top 2% of wage earners dont give a fuck about $6000.

Ok, that Samurai cabinet looks frikken amazing! Never even heard of the game before... but the cab artwork is totally wicked.

I would pay 800 for both baby pac and paperboy. I am in South Jersey just outside Philly.

Yes you should contact a long time trusted member of KLOV with your offer. You being a new member with 2 entries. Don't be offended if he wants cash up front.

I have to say this...

Is your friend getting a deal if we all pay about $400+ per game (not bad, but not deals) so he gets the SEGA SAMURAI for the same??

I think he should pitch in more and we should all go down. Isn't the samurai the rarest cab of this bunch??!? I have never seen it. It seems uber rare.

Tell the seller to cancel the auction and you will give him $1000 cash when you pick them up and he can do whatever he wants after. Claim he distroyed them for his write off or whatever. If he sells them on ebay, he will have to pay tax on the $2000 he sold them for.
This way he can get cash and say what he wants.
$250 each or less is where you need to be on these.
