I need a portable paint booth. That would be the perfect size for shooting arcade cabs. I guess I could build one out of plastic and some 2x4's but i would like it to last. I also don't really have a hard surface to setup on. I only have a grassy area to paint on. Not to sure how to pull off this feet. Any ideas on how to set up a little booth at the beginning of the weekend outdoors then tear it down by Sunday night?

ive used pvc pipe, plastic, and duct tape to make a paint booth for a car before, turned out pretty good. plus the pvc if you dont glue it you can take it all apart, and reuse later or for plumbing repairs

You know pvc is not a bad idea man. I could take it all a part when finished. Fold up the plastic and call it done till the next weekend.

Hum....

Outside. PVC. Plastic sheets. Sounds like a kite just waiting to happen.

Yea I could see that now that you mention it. You know 2x4's are cheap. Two or three dollars a piece and it wouldn't take many to build this thing. Use some sort of pin and loop system to hold them together. You know for some sort of quick disconnect and assemble.

What worries me is the floor how the heck could I get around that? Plus throw in the water to kept the dust down and it sounds like a mess waiting to happen.

Pallets would hold water & cinder-blocks too...

I hung plastic in the back patio of our house.
I also laid plastic down on the floor and just wet it down just before painting.
I just change the floor plastic when I move onto a new resto.
For the walls of plastic,I just sweep the over spray off and then sweep as much as I can then blow the rest out with air.
The walls are held in place at the bottom with bricks,so I can open it up to clean.
Another way I would do it is make frames covered in plastic which could be stood in place and taken down to clean or store.

I hang plastic from my Garage door when it's open.

Now the $100.00 dollar questions...

1) Which one to buy that will last and not go overboard
2) The correct size to buy so you can shoot 1 cab comfortably
3) What kind of modification needs to be made for fans and filters
4) ...

Bingo portable paint booth!

well with the pvc you will have to tie it down some how such as you do a tent, the wood if you pre-drilled and screwed all the boards together you could easily assemble and disassemble. so i guess it really depends on how often you plan on using it. make sure you wear a respirator.

X2 on the respirator.

Otherwise the fumes and paint in the lungs will catch up to you and the results won't be pretty.
Not a dust mask, but a respirator. Big difference.

Just remember you need a 98.8 overspray collection on your exhaust filters.
As Pre, EPA This Year, You Have Been Warned !! We Have Eye on You !!
Did you fill out fill out the forms for a extenshion?
Thank You.

You might be able to to get a cheaper doable solution from Princess Auto or Pevy Mart Depending on where you are located. Not sure if they have these stores in the US but in Canada That is where I would go. Definite must is a mask with the PROPER filters cannot stress this enough if you want to grow old one day and actually enjoy those games. I have seen furnace filters used before in my buddies spray booth setup (he does cars and actually has a booth in his garage) side draft setup. I would second the use of plastic on the floor, especially for a temp setup. Just keep the pressure inside positive (small filtered fan) doesn't need to be a 100 cfm, but just enough to make it positive pressure to keep the dust from being blown in. Good luck.
