does anyone here rebuild pac man power supply boards?

Does anyone do an exchange kinda thing or rebuild pac man power supply boards? If so, how much does it cost? I've read all the posts i could find here about how to change it to/ add on a switcher...but if i have to keep the original brick in there i might as well just fix it up or put a new one in there that works.

I've looked around and don't seem to see anyone doing this sort of thing, or see anyone that sells a direct replacement?

any help here?

You should be able to fix it up yourself. What is currently wrong with yours?

Pac man power supply. Assuming it's an Original, Is basically two transformers a line filter and a few Fuses. The Pac man and Ms pac man series of power supplies are odd because they produce an AC voltage that is converted to DC on the Board. Meaning Your PCB board is also part of the power supply.

Typically when people install a switching power supply They either by pass the voltage regulators on the main board Or boost up the voltage and let the Main board regulate the voltage down to what it needs.

What goes bad on the transformer on a Pac man power supply? Fuse holders. Now rust doesn't bother a transformer much but if the insulation off the transformer is breaking down than you need to replace it.

One of the reasons why you don't see a repair service for the orginal pac man game power supply.

thanks for the info...mine just looks like it might have been wet and i dont know if it works or not yet...i am going to take it out today and try to clean it up..see what kind of shape it is in...i didn't know if anyone refurbished these or what.

Is the super pac man block different or can you use it?

Super pac block is built differently, not Im not sure if could be hacked in or not..You'd have to do alot of splicing or connecter building. If your board assembly is shot, either grab one from ebay, or build in a switcher.

have a 100% working pac man power supply if you need one

can re-test it if you'd like before i send it to you for a no headache transaction

let me remember what i want for it, shipping will be 22 dollars or whatever. i only charge actual shipping so whatever it is...

i have mine out of the machine now...will be going through it later tonight to see what exactly it's going to need...it might work or be easy to fix up and make it look "ok"...but man it is nasty looking right now.

the transformers look like maybe part of the top got wet and its starting to separate or something...not sure yet, have not had time to look at it...just got everything gutted and i'm getting ready to start sanding...at least i have an intact wiring harness.

I've never seen a bad Pac-Man transformer. Rusty, filthy, nasty looking, yes - but they've always worked. Remember - a transformer is just a couple coils of wire with an iron core. It doesn't matter if the core is rusty. You can sand the top and sides of the transformer and paint it if you feel so inclined, provided you don't damage the windings. But, it hardly matters what it looks like - it's inside the game.

But definitely change the fuse holders. The original ones suck - they always corrode and break, and cause lots of problems.

ok thanks! should i just go to radio shack and pick something up or is there some place that sells them since they are a common problem area? I assume Radio Shack would carry something that would work?
