Does anyone have redemption machines in their home with tickets?

For some reason I googled redemption tickets and found out they're surprisingly cheap. Does anyone have any redemption games in their home arcade that they actually keep tickets in?

I have quite a few redemption machines in my personal arcade, but I disabled the ticket dispensers. I don't have a redemption counter so the tickets would have no value and kids would just throw them on the floor.

I have considered adding a redemption counter to the Kids Zone at the Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show, but since the games are on free play it doesn't make much sense.

Modern tickets are mostly paper, not the card stock of yesteryear so they are cheaper.

Some redemption games might still be fun without tickets but most of them are pretty pointless without them. Maybe if I get one for the garage I'll put a small glass case in there with some tootsie rolls, finger traps, stickers and other useless shit in it.

What's the strangest thing you've seen in a prize redemption case?

Yes, I have a dinoscore in my game room that dispenses tickets and my skeeball does too. For some reason the kids still go crazy for the tickets.

My old FEC boss said it's because they like the feeling of
getting something for their efforts.

It's why he never would go with a card swipe system. He felt
it was exciting for the kids to hold the tickets and trade them in
for prizes.

That's the same reason I like using tokens instead of free play

I have two games that dispense tickets - a Rock'N Bowl (wife's favorite) and a Gottlieb Nudge-It. (And looking at getting a Mario Mushroom World and/or Ticket Tac Toe pin-type machines..)

I ordered my own custom tickets from Indiana Ticket. Made my own artwork, and had them shipped. Total price for the tickets was around $325 - yes, more expensive than I paid for the TWO games that use them... - but worth it to me in the end. And the wife loves getting tickets - even though they go in the trash. Guests have been hit and miss (no kids) - so far, most have liked getting them, a couple couldn't care less.

(By the way - in that order, I have pretty much enough tickets to last me until I die. I will never, ever run out. And yes, my games are NOT on free-play.) :D

The card system does take the fun out of it but I can see why places are doing it, it certainly prevents token jams, which some arcades will not fix and won't refund your tokens for.

I think skee ball can hold up well as a redemption game even if you are not winning tickets for prizes with it. Other games that require throwing like a basketball game would be good too. Games that don't hold up are games like cyclone or other stop the light games, since well there isn't much to it, but ironically I have seen that one operated here at a place that didn't give out tickets or prizes. Claw machines are a crowd pleaser for sure even if you can't keep the stuff.

I don't but I love Skee Ball and if I had one, it would have to be loaded with tickets for authenticity.

I have a Feeding Frenzy that dispenses tickets. It came with a TON of Elitch Garndes tickets. I keep a few pencil toppers and a shot glass on hand, in the event someone wants to cash in.

Are the "admit one" raffle type tickets the same size? would they work? The ones like this:

Anyone have a recommendation on a cheap place to get tickets?

I think they are the same size and would probably work aside from the fact that the ticket dispenser probably wouldn't be able to pull the weight of that roll even if you found a way to rig it up to spool it off of there.

Redemption machines are set up to take the stacks of 2,000 tickets. The ones I always used back in the day when I was running a lot of cherrymasters and went through a bunch tickets were 1-5/32" x 2". I know the ones at Suzo Happ work fine and they are about $5.00 per stack of 2,000, cheaper if you buy larger quanity. While I havent tried them, ebay sellers list 2,000 for a little over $3.00. Here is a listing where they have 10,000 for $18 and change:

I've got an Addams Family Values in my game room. My kids use it as their piggy bank. It has tickets in it, but it's getting time to refill it.

Kind of an interesting machine, it was designed by Pat Lawlor (who also designed the Addams Family pin), and it runs off a WPC boardset. It's fairly fun as redemption games go, has a good theme, and it was only fifty bucks.

I could always unroll it into a stack myself. It would probably take forever, be a pain and not save me any money but I wouldn't have to wait on the mail.

Agreed to all. make sure they are close to 1-5/32" x 2" per ticket and it should work. zig zag back in forth, 5 tickets at the time. I still seeing them not wanting to lay flat and you might end up with a mess, but if you can find it local and semi cheap, give it a whirl.

The raffle tickets are the same size physically. But Redemption tickets have holes in them where the tickets join so the machine can count and tell how many have been dispensed. The game will likely notice and keep throwing ticket jam messages if you use the raffle tickets.

You are sure right about this. I completely forgot about then counting the holes. Nice save if op hasn't went out and bought them yet

Depends on the dispenser.
Deltronics does not use the middle hole to count/detect. They use the outer notch. So the ones pictured above would work fine. (Assuming they're like the ones pictured above.) For other dispenser makes, I can't say.
