does anyone else's S.O. think your arcade doubles as STORAGE?

I constantly find myself having to REROUTE stuff that my wife seems to think is a better fit out in the garcade than wherever the item was prior. For example, in prep for Xmas, she took a bunch of the kids' junk (ie one of those magnetized chalkboard things and some related toys) and jettisoned them right into the garcade.. I'm already grappling with space out there so of course I blew a gasket.

I'm just wondering if anyone else's S.O.'s try to use member arcades and game rooms as storage units if you're not keeping lookout??!!

You mean someone actually might want to use their garage for storage? :001_ssuprised:;)

No girlfriend or wife FTW!

And Kerri: "Significant Other" is usually what gay people call their 'partners'... :D

There is a constant stream of crap coming from the house in to the gameroom... where I pick it up and stick it in the shed out back...

Just be thankful the s.o. hasn't resorted to the scenario I ran into when i picked up my Star Castle. The owner was actually using the cab itself for storage! filled it with sleeping bags and those vacuum sealed bags of clothing. :D

In my house storage space BECOMES arcade space. I recently seized a quarter of the basement to use as an annex to the regular arcade space. We purged a lot of stuff, compressed the rest of it and moved it into other half-used storage areas. I also was able to create a dedicated arcade workspace in the final quarter of the basement where the furnace/washer/dryer are located. Now I have all my keepers in the basement and just a few projects in the garage.

But no, SO doesn't store things in my arcade space because she respects my space. If she has something that needs to be stored and can't find a place for it, I'll rearrange my shit so she can put it somewhere. But it's also understood that the garage and basement are MY domain. But, she has her own personal room for her library and I don't infringe on her space at all.

You're forgetting one small difference between us, my friend: you just got ENGAGED.. I've been married for 14 years. We'll have this talk again in another decade or so.. LMAO.

my GF came back from visiting family in WV over christmas to find 720 sitting in the dining room. THAT went over well. me "hi honey, how was the drive home?" her "what in the FUCK is that doing in the dining room? i gotta unload the van, it BETTER not be in here when i come back in" so much for that...

What! You have a L&W cab!? This is the first I've heard!!! (spoken sarcastically...)

My ancestors say it best:

Ahahahaha, good point. When kids come into the picture, things might change. But I have made it clear that when we eventually buy a new house, two of my requirements are a large basement (for my gameroom), and walkout access to the basement (to easier facilitate moving in more games that I will buy in the future).

We have an agreement for when I get a Quantum, it will stay in the living room until I am done admiring it and decide to move it into the gameroom. This was a non-negotiable stipulation of our engagement.

My wife does this all the time. Whenever she has something she wants to move out of the house she put's it in the garage. She tends to place it right at the doorway as soon as you open the door making it difficult to even enter the garage. It's upsetting to say the least, considering I had to put in shelves and do some major rearranging to get the stuf that's in there to even fit.
