Does Anyone Else Get Really Frustrated With Fixing Games?

I was just wondering about how other people are when it comes to fixing these games. It seems like a lot of times when I can't get the problem solved, I get very very frustrated and angry with myself sometimes. Just not able to accept the fact that I cannot fix the problem or figure out what is wrong. And I don't want to stop working on it until I can get it fixed. Is this something that other people seem to find when they do these games as well? Sometimes I feel like selling them all and just quitting. I really don't mean it but that's just what it makes me feel when I can't fix these. 😭

Nah not Me I love fixing them. Definitely easier then fixing a video. If I get frustrated I usually just step away and come back with a cleaner mind.. sometimes you just have to step away from it

It's usually when you feel like that - that very feeling - that you're about to have a breakthrough and really learn something.

Take a break. Come back in a day or two. You'll figure it out.

Billzman -

Working on my arcade is a place of peace...it's zen...sacred ground. I've worked several games for months at a time. Never getting no where and then suddely a break through.

My frustration is not being able to spend quality time restoring them...or when I get interupted because the dog is doing something cute. Note: I do love the dog too and she is my pal.

My frustration is saved for my career. Don't want to go there.

My frustration is when my real boss (the wife) tells me that I can't buy a game that I really want. Even though I didn't sneak behind her back and buy the game (well once Space Mission). Then turns around the very next day after the auctions over and states that it's ok to buy it..."I've been thinking you should do something for you"...

My frustration is when she tells me "no you can't blow a hole in the wall" so I can fit my Twin Rifle into the basement. Should have sent her to the outlets and just took the sledge out. Instead this is what happened.

Kiss it good bye you no longer own it...

Hope I made everyone laugh a little but I can tell you some of this is true.

You were right about that...! Got it working. Just needed time to compute and recharge.

My only frustration is realizing I'm missing a skill set required. Easy to correct thanks to this board.

Walking away is great as well. My "Speedway" has a dunce cap on and is sitting in the corner because of a "final position" reel and the bell not working :) I'll get it sorted, but not worth having a stroke over the issues.

Chreighton- Yes this board is a set of skills, and support group all in one. I am constantly amazed at the compassion and patience that these gentlemen show. I have learned more than just Game repair from them....

I have found this to be a total addiction of love/ hate the more I do learn the less hate. I don't often get frustrated solving a hard electrical problem i actually enjoy that challenge. What will gets me good is a bad mechanical part.im working on Chicago Coin Speedway now my second ccm car game I'm going on a real good streak of fixing cleaning etc then bam found one of the sprockets bent on one car motor. So obviously this isn't a part that will be at a local store front. Then I spend hours trying to self correct the problem moving mounts , trying to heat up the sprocket to bend it back just hours of nonsense work that ultimately did not fix anything and actually and even bent the other sprockets up now. I hate to give up and wait until I get lucky and find one on eBay, i did try Steve young but doubt they will have it.

Try Rich over at Pinball Salvage (www.pinballsalvage.com). His site is WIP, but if you email him directly he'll get back to you pretty quick. I remember a few years back he had some parts from Speedway, he may have what you're looking for.
