I stopped by an op's warehouse/showroom/workshop today and noticed probably a dozen monitors laying around. I asked if they ever sold them, and he said all they did was take them out and replace them with flat panels. He said I'd be much better off if I did the same.:) I was thinking of going back with a truck and making him an offer for a few. Maybe $50 for 5 untested? Does anyone have some advice to offer?

Tell them you'll take em for free and save them from spending a fortune on recycling costs. I've pulled hundreds from ops over the years and they've always been happy to give them away.

Thanks guys, you saved me $50!
I would be prepared to offer something just to get his wheels turning. I recently pulled 7-8 monitors out of an Ops place along with numerous boards, cabs, etc. I was already buying the offer stuff so any extra $20 bought them all plus a few other items. He was glad to get rid of them, but also felt like he got something for them.

I think Chris has it right, odds are he'll be happy to have you haul them though don't expect any of them to work.

The op I work for part time has been converting his stored GT and SSB cabinets over to 42"ers so there were TONS of monitors laying around. I was swimming in inop/fuzzy 27" neotechs and 9200's till I told him to stop saving them for me.

I bought 2 19 inch monitors off of a place in Marshfield WI. They were swapping the CRT monitors for LCD ones in the slot machines.

I got them for 50 a piece on a Ebay auction. The guys there were really nice and had a test station to verify that each monitor worked before I took them home.

Each monitor has a perfect picture with no burn in.
