I just picked up one for next to nothing new in box. Im thinking it mght be cool to use from time to time in the arcade..

anybody else use one? if so where do you buy your fog juice?

I would advise against it. I work for a company that produces professional grade fog machines for the entertainment industry.

Most machines are glycol based and the glycol will build up on surfaces over time and is quite nasty to clean. This stuff does not mix well with vintage arcade game electronics. If you are just using it very rarely then it is not as big of a deal but regular use will get nasty in confined areas.

The cheap machines are even worse in this regard. In all cases, you are best to only buy the fluid designed to go with the specific machine. While they are all similar the exact mixtures of glycol to water and the heater block temperatures are different. Using the wrong stuff will cause the heater block coil to clog prematurely or will cause greater buildup of fluid as it does not fully atomize it.

I bought one for halloween party.. Ran it in the arcade room for about 10 minutes before smoke alarm went off...

Fog machines will set alarms off, you have to use a hazer which is water based to avoid that. Learned that the hard way also.

As a former DJ I can say those things are only good for outside, people hate them, and they are cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezy. Fun for the kids but don't expose your games to them.

glycol?? like antifreeze?? that does sound prety bad to be mixing with 80s electronic components.

Mabye this will be a halloween only thing

If you want to do it right, get one that uses dry ice to make the fog rather than the juice. Creates a much more dense fog, and doesn't have all the problem listed with the other stuff
