I have a Peter Chou model (standard) and it seemed to have died out on me. Does anyone here have any experience with repairing or rebuilding them?

An experienced tech can fix one with about $6-7 in parts, but would charge you at least $20 to do it (if not more). Considering new ones can be bought for $25, it's usually not worth it unless you can do it yourself...

There was a thread recently here about rebuilding switchers. I had two switchers that were in the bottom of a dead cabinet. I had no idea what working order they were in, but I assume since there were 2, that one was dead.

I inspected them for any visible damage, and since neither of the fuses were blown, I decided to write down the value of the caps and order them from Mouser.

Anyway I'm using one of them to power the JAMMA board, and it works great. I say that it couldn't hurt just replacing the caps first and see if it solves your problems. If you can do a cap kit on a monitor, this should be a simple thing. I personally like the idea of rebuilding vs. just buying a new one.
