Has anyone bought and installed the Doctor Who wobble kit? I just placed my order this morning and should receive it soon. I'm just curious to hear people's experiences with this mod.

Im just jealous you have a Dr. Who pin. I plan on that being my first pin that I buy. Just need to save up the money or sell off a couple of my cabarets. One day I will have one tho.

I've done it. You're going to want to dremel or grind out the inside of the Dalek head. It's extruded plastic and it's a bit uneven. It's nearly impossible to get it to sit flat without smoothing it. Also you'll need something like a tooth pick dipped in paint to mark off the screw holes. Their site shows a Sharpie, but the bracket is much too thick for the sharpie to reach through. Expect it to take you around an hour, not 15 minutes.

Holy crap it must have sold fast. Like it really matters cause I dont have the money to spend right now cause Uncle Sam is about to get a whole bunch from me.

Wow, that was fast. $1,500 for a horribly faded Dr. Who that needed work...not in my neck of the woods. Crazy.

Man you were not kidding! I got my wobble kit yesterday and it is in NO way a 15 min project. Like you mentioned it is nearly impossible to get the head to sit flush. Maybe it's because I want it to look perfect but I kept fiddling with the top for a good thirty mins before I got it to where I would be content.

Beside that it looks awesome and I'm really happy I have it installed. I wonder what other modifications I could do to the Dr. Who? I did add a K-9 figure to the playfield that looks really cool.

Ahh, we sell the other one, I'd like to hear how you like that one. Our kit is a lot different in that it follows the original design more closely (using a motor with a crank and an opto to determine position). I'm also curious as to what activates the head. Ours is controlled by the game's software. Admittedly, ours costs a lot more, but they are a lot different.

im also interested in doing this mod...im not into modding pins
but this 1 and the tron arcade machine for the new tron pin are almost a must do!!!
(no i do not have a tron but my friend down the road does!,no od on his yet but i think he is thinking about it...
dr who is almost the most played pin in this house!!!

This one is also controlled by game software. Whenever the Dalek's head is active it will move its head back and forth. I've only played one game with the mod but it seems to do the trick.

Whats your store's web page?

id also like to see the link as well...closer to the original software is better in my opinion
either way the 1 i saw on youtube was sweet!!!

We sold them by a reserve list at pinballobsession.com but you can see everything about the kit and order it at: http://basementarcade.com/arcade/4sale/forsale.html

Again, not cheap, but because we're using a motor with a crank and we integrate into the original software, things like the Dalek test in the software show up and work properly.

Instruction manual is at http://www.pinballobsession.com/PDFs/Wobble10a.pdf and you can see that there are a LOT of connections back to the game boards with an easy to install, no cut, harness.

We've never had a return. We did have people cancel on us because the cheaper one came out and the guy stole our name, but hey, I'm not bitter. We have a better, more accurate to the original product. Don't believe me, look up Pfutz's page (http://home.comcast.net/~pfutz/WmsDoctorWhoMovingDalekHead/index.html).

What I'm curious about is what actuates the motor. Is it just tied into the light so when the light comes on, it moves the head? I'm guessing that would be an easy and inexpensive way to do it.

I love my Dr. Who! Granted I've been a Dr. Who fan since the early 80's, but still it is a fun and challenging (at least to me) pin. The only thing I've done to mine so far is to add the Cliffy to the playfield just outside the Time Expander. Next up is probably the Cliffy for the Time Expander itself. I haven't seen a Dr. Who without wear in those spots... it's just natural with how it plays.

I'd love to get the wobble head kit sometime soon though too! Looks like it would be fun (and as it was originally intended).

This is an easy little mod that really adds to theme of the playfield.

A little K-9 figure perched above the back entrance ramp. It's beyond me why he wasn't included in the design of this pin.
