My original experience with this game was back in the early 90's when I was backpacking through the U.K. I stopped at a local hostel near London for one night. When I got to my room I started talking to this other backpacker and we both decided to go pub-hoping that evening. At the very first stop I had a couple pints of Guinness and noticed in a crowded darken corner was a Doctor Who pin. I never knew such a thing existed! While my traveling companion flirted with the ladies I was drawn by the beautiful glow of the backglass. The poor pin was all alone with no one playing. So with Guinness in hand I strode up and eyed the flashing playfield. Examining every detail before I dropped in my first coin. It was an amazing first experience. I played that pin a half a dozen times before we moved on.

Fast forward to four years ago I decided that I had to have one for my cade. The usually problems arose with either the asking price was too much (like 3K), location, or just didn't have the cash on hand. A month ago I located a seller in Houston who was selling at a price I could afford and wasn't too far from me. So over the Memorial Day weekend I made the 4 hour trek to pick up my first ever pin. The seller was a really friendly guy and had over nineteen pins in his house. I spent the first hour playing Twilight Zone, Star Trek: TNG, Pirates, and Simpson's…

Now that I have this pin I've been playing it non-stop. Even my kids have stopped playing the vids and now line up to play Doctor Who. I think I'm going to have to buy anther in the not to distant future! I can fit two more before I run out of space…

LMK if I can help you with yours in any way.

Highly recommend LEDs and the Cliffy protector for the Time Expander, and colored cliffy sleeves.

Awesome.

Are all 5 of the mini-playfield optos working correctly?

Hard to get Davros multiball if these are not 100%.

Congrats on a great first pin.

I bought a Black Hole pin Saturday I always wanted one. It took a few years to get the right timing like you say.

The seller shopped it out and replaced the bulbs with LEDs. However it could use the Cliffy protector I did notice some wear on the Time Expander.

As far as I can tell all five work. I haven't gotten good enough for the Davros multiball.

Have you heard anything on the Dalek topper mod? I wonder if its worth the $$ & time.

I agree, great first pin. Far too many people just settle on their first pinball machine and get some old crap. This game is awesome. I wish I had one. :(

Let me just say Im very jealous of you. If I could only have one pin this would be it. There is a place in Austin that I go to play it all the time.....actually I was just there saturday. One of these days I hope to be as lucky.

Take the glass off.

Use a piece of cardboard or similar to hold down the glass-detect microswitch just under the glass channel in the upper left area of the cabinet.

Throw the game into Test mode, choose the last test, #14 I think (the mini-playfield test), get the mini-playfield in the upper position, then change to switch edge test and push in on all 5 of the white mushroom targets, one at a time.

That will tell you if they are all working.

I love the moving Dalek topper - only the first few hundred of the 7000+ games had it.

Mine, sadly, does not :-(

The "wobble kit" offered as a mod runs about 300 bucks.

It's cool, but not 300 dollars cool, IMHO.

There's also this possibility:

That guy did a homebrew wobble kit.

Maybe offering a kit or the design.

That's an incredible first pin! It's on my must-have list for sure. Gameplay is simple, but can have some extra depth if you dig into how to utilize the doctors. The theme is really, really, really well done.
