Hey guys,

A couple of mates asked me to redraw the Doctor Who cab because the ones they own are both faded badly.

It was a big project but its done!

I have printed these and have a few spare sets as I needed to add extras to make the printing the most cost efficient. If you would like some please PM me.

That's a really nice job there, spacies.

Almost every DW cab I've seen, and many other B/W of that era, have badly faded cab art, especially the reds.

Luckily, my DW cab is almost pristine. I had to do some very minor touchups, the red sharpie pens do a good job, but mine looks great.

You may get more takers on RGP, but beware of the copyright police.

Again, nice job.

This is one game that I plan to own some day, and I always knew that it would be almost impossible for me to find one unfaded... now I know that I can restore it (if I can ever find the damn thing). Thanks!

Nice Job, those should be a good seller, do more!!!:)

Cheers!

You are very lucky to own a non faded DW.
The copyright police have found me already! LOL

Awesome job! Any pics of these decals installed? My Doctor Who would be perfect if re-decalled.

Cheers ;)

Replied :)

I made some more tweaks to the drawings.

I have moved and/or modified items so now it looks like one wrap around decal where the sides meet the front. They tried do do this on the original but didn't quite get it right:

I also moved the Bally logo to the rear on both sides. The original had the logo at the front on the left side of the cab. I suspect they did that becase they only had one set of screens they used for both sides.

:)

Very nice. Mine are not faded either. Otherwise I would be thinking kinda hard on it as well.

My Fish tales is faded bad though!

Is this still for sale?

It never was, past the very few he had made when the thread was posted.

This thread keeps getting necro'ed.

Bet Spacies regrets ever having posted this, lol...just goes to show, don't show off your hard work unless you're ready for people to shove money in your face!

Only he can answer that for sure. Personally, I don't know what the big deal is. He already sold a couple of sets, and he's selling the space invaders cutouts.....guess he's not worried about Taito pressing charges over those, but Planetary Pinball seems to be a bunch of dicks when it comes to stuff like this. They won't buy his art files, but they wouldn't let him produce them for sale either.

I would guess he just doesn't want to have to deal with all the cease and desist letters. They already shut down a few sites that had things like plastics scans etc.

:(
I am very sad about this. I'm an Italian owner of a DW and when I read this thread I thought I could restore my pinball...

maybe someone know where to find this sideart on sale???

So a guy (Rick) and his partners who are single handedly bringing back parts for many games that have been NLA for well over a decade are dicks for protecting the IP that they invested in???

Are you serious here? Imagine if you had just plunked down 250K+ for IP and someone started making bootleg stuff? Would you just sit around and say its ok, its for the good of the hobby? Get a freakin clue!

Planetary Pinball would have to renegotiate the rights to reprint the Dr. Who material from the BBC. With the resurgence of the series maybe they have raised their price that would make a few decal sets unrealistic to produce. Or the owner of the IP can just flat out say no which is what just happened when a few yahoo's started making BSD decals and Sony said sorry you're not defending your IP well enough.

So everytime someone goes and makes it themselves, you can almost guarantee it will never see the light of day from the official source. Think about that before supporting these so called efforts...
