Do you think this is cool??? What's the rule here?

Its not cool. Nobody in their right might thinks its the 'right thing' for this guy to be doing either.

He's a scumbag.

Anything said beyond or contrary to that is simply being done to get you fired up.

Get a hold of the guy, ask him to please stop. If he doesnt, you've got lots of people here that will continue to report him, PM him and otherwise make it not worth his time to keep selling them.

I'd also make sure he is not just reselling a legit piece that was purchased through the right channels.

definatly not the case here. Item list 10 or more avaible.
is using a jpg for the image and not an actual pic.
Im checking records to see if Ive sold one to WA recently.
Like John said the only other way wouldve been just to grab the jpg from here.

I was talking with JeffK who did D2K at cax about this very thing.
Ive seen from time to time pieces of inkjetted D2k art for sale on ebay and craigslist.
So how do you counter that since none of us really own those rights??

In the case of D2K I will be offering a inkjet set since the silkscreen package is sold out.
This way we still have a little more control of the project and may in fact have it listed on ebay reguarly as well just to keep it out there to prevent others from trying to make a quick buck on the bay.

So even in this case I may just do the same. Theres really not much money in it to begin with as previously pointed out with listing fees, shipping, printing costs, etc.
but Id rather give them a way vs someone else profiting on what John did.

Just as a point of reference, I messaged the guy asking what the differences were between his and the TOG product:

I'm not at all clear he understands the provenance of the art. blkdog7 - you DEFINITELY need to contact this guy and ask him to stop if you don't want him reproing the things. From that exchange, I'm unclear that he has any idea what's gone on with this art, and you might find him willing to be reasonable. And if he's not, do post here so we can all see.

Dude, I totally agree with you and everyone else that is saying the same thing. You're preachin' to the choir. I fully understand what's going on here and that no one has any rights. PERIOD. I did this for fun and for me. I created a decoration for my game. It was a fan project. I'm just saying, what this guy is doing is bad form. And if it is someone from here, that sucks. The art either came from a post I made here, my website, or from Rich's printing. So, whoever it is, he is amongst us. :) I just don't get why someone would do it, that's all. The community is pretty small. So, why bother. Which is why I asked "Do you think this is cool?"

I'm totally with you - I wasn't talking you down or anything - I was addressing other posts I saw. A lot of these replies make it sound like he stole something you own all the rights to. Someone compared it to US currency. Just saying.

I don't think it's cool, that he's making money off of this, It's shit.

I'm sure some of these guys will get together and troll him until he stops selling them.

I call BS on him
he cant play dumb when theres only 2 places this could've come from.

I just posted this for sale up on the bay $2.50 with FREE shipping
This basically covers my shipping fees and e-bay cost Only.

As I have said before I would rather give these away than have someone else profit on John's work without permission

Looks like the dude pulled them from ebay. Good news for John and Rich!

"This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available."

The seller removed his listing early. I have sent him the link to your auction.

Also of interresting note
I just had someone buy this, pay it via paypal, then reversed it
all in the same transaction

maybe he thought it would go down.
I listed it 2 more times and have a 10+qty available
I could really do this all day long.

Just to play the devils advocate BUT......Whats the difference between someone doing this and selling 60-1 cards? Also, its not like you own the rights to DK3 in the first place. Even if you did change something on it, it still has the DK3 logo etc. I think this is quite a double standard.

I dont think he's chinese and should know better :D
anyone that sells Dk art or any arcade art is in the know, at least enogh to know
and theres no way to know if he bought mine and just scanned it or pulled the image off here. Id have to go back to the orginal thread and look to see if John ever had anything posted large enough for someone to pull that off..

though your right weather its art or IP its a copyright infridged on a copyright.

FYI BLKDOG watermark your Popeye before its too late :D
