Do you tell your co-workers about your arcade?

most of my co-workers don't care. they respond "oh that's neat" and that's about it

but the folks at my wife's work keep asking to come over (a buncha 20-somethings) and check everything out. maybe because it's novelty to them and/or something they've never seen/experienced before? i dunno

Oh heck yes, I tell co workers that I collect arcade machine. I have dragged my friends into my hobby. I have two friends who work in the same cubical office. One says to another. My buddy just set me up with 6 games. The other said I have a buddy who has done the same thing. They both know me. Laughs. I get a call, Can we swap games between each other?
Sure, Just have to keep the games for another 6 month.

Now should you tell co workers? Depends on your relationships are with your co workers and your company. The nerdy or wooden wheel table bachelor image that this might stir up, might do harm to your rep in the company. As posted before, You might create jealous co-worker(s) that you have to deal with. This might make your job harder to deal with.

Best advice I can give you is use your common sense and deal with any problems that pop up.

I usually don't initiate the conversation, but it's pretty well-known in my office what my hobby is and how I spend a lot of my spare time. If people ask me about my weekend plans, and I'm going to be doing something arcade-related, I don't shy away from telling them about it.

I try and keep my personal life out of my work so no. I wouldnt go out of my way to discuss it but if I was asked I'm sure I'd talk about it

I'd tell everyone if it helped me pick up a few more games!

My work people know, especially when I was selling a bunch of boards and shipping them out from the office (a perk of a family owned business). A couple people have interest in some old school games - especially those about my age.

Absolutely. I tell everyone I can. I have gained countless machines from friends of friends of friends.

Plus, I have four in my office right now.

Heck, I have a mailing list at work of people I send pics of my pick ups and restores.

When an opportunity comes up in conversation to tell them I do. I love the networking aspect of it. You'd be surprised how many other people have a game themselves or know others who have them.

After telling a co-worker about my games once, he gave me Mario Bros, Wayne Gretzky 3D Hockey and an Arachnid Dart Board all free because he wanted them gone. Also got a free Journey upright and a super cheap Galaxian cocktail from a couple other people that were work acquaintances.

I tell everyone! My first machine was a cocktail, which I bought from my boss. And my latest, Stern Berzerk cocktail, also purchased from my boss.

If I have to listen to them talk about guns, then they can listen to me talk about games. You are going to learn about your co-works lives whether you like it or not. You can not talk about work all of the time and need some way to pass the workday.

I have sold a couple games to my boss. Lets me take company 2 ton with lift gate on weekends to pick up large loads of games. The only downside is anything goes wrong with them I am expected to repair in perpetuity. Everyone else thinks of it as novelty.

Yeah, I tell my coworkers and show off pics of recent pick ups. They send me links to games for sale, (usually ones I am not interested in) but it helps to have extra eyes looking out for me. Some guys know what I like/ don't like. One guy was showing another a multi-game for me. He told him, "Jake doesn't like those kind."
I also keep an eye out for people looking for their first game, and give my opinion on fair prices.

I tell people and a lot of people want to get games for themselves also. Most people think having the games is really neat!

I just started a new job in December and somehow my arcade came up. Turns out a guy in my group has a Pac UR and has been wanting other games. I helped him get an Asteroids and I found my Bubbler jukebox in the same place. Now he wants a Donkey Kong and I told him to be patient or be willing to pay. :D

I tell everyone I can, even in passing. You never know who will run into someone with a game they need to get rid of and remember you mentioned you collect them and give you a call. I've had it happen a few times already, even once at work! It was nothing I was interested in unfortunately, but people will remember!

I have a few different hobbies that I am quite involved with, but I don't really broadcast them to the couple hundred or so workplace acquaintances I have. Usually if someone else brings up something I can relate to first, then I share.

As it happens, the more "popular" hobbies seem to be the ones I get known for over the years. Right now, I am most likely known around the office as a soccer supporter. But some folks still know that there more parts of the "real" me.

I have been inviting more work people to my New Years parties, and if they show up, well, the arcade thing is pretty obvious at that point :)

Yep, I don't talk about it all the time, but it's no secret. I've had a few games in the office for several years, and periodically invite coworkers over to play games and drink bourbon. At this point, I think they bring it up more than I do.

I don't mind people knowing. It's nice when someone tips me off to a game or texts about a TV sitting on the curb.

My co-workers know about my arcade Hobby. The ones that might not have thought I was serious found out for sure last year when a guy pulled up with a trailer full of eight games in our parking lot and sat there for an hour. I was only getting one of them but it sure made an impression. 😱

I tend to keep to myself. People that know me, know what I do. The minute I mention I collect and repair these things they're like ohh can you fix this broken phone or ipod...

I keep three pics in my big rig, my girl, my cat, and my first haul (pacman and a conversion hs-5 simpsons bowling).
