Some of us still have the first one but not me. I was told not to get rid of the first game I ever bought and I should have held onto it but I pulled a boneheaded move and sold it. It was Final Fight in a Phoenix cabinet that I had converted back. I was unhappy with the lack of side art. As luck would have it, a couple of months after I sold the game, repro side art was released. D'oh! This all happened something like 10 years ago and I still regret it.

Anybody else or is it just me?

30 years ago today...

Yes.

It is a Joust I purchased in 1983 for $125 from a local amusement auction. I have had nicer examples over the years but I could never sell this machine for any price.

My first game was food fight. It was also the first game I sold. I paid $40 for it broken. Along with some other problem that I fixed pretty easily, it had a glitch on the pcb. I replaced the pcb and sold it for $500+. This was back in like 83-84. I would have kept it, but it was not a game I really wanted back then and I had no room. I used the money to buy a bunch of games I really wanted, so it was a great help.

I always wonder what happened to it. The guy that bought it was interested in the replay element of the game. I also sold him a road blasters. I want to say I delivered it to sacramento area. Since I still have the original pcb, I probably have the serial number of the cabinet. I should check it and see if another collector has the game. I would like to think when I finally got a food fight back in the collection, it was the one I let go. The replacement did come from the sac area, so there is a chance.

Zaxxon gets no LOVE

The 1st game I ever purchased was Zaxxon. It is one of my all-time favorites growing up. I actually thru my back out moving it. Being my 1st purchase, I was so excited to get it in the house (which happened to be around the garage, down a hill, on a steep angle, and in through the back patio) that I had my 115lb fiancé help me move it with a 2 wheel cart. My back went out when the games weight and the hill decided to take off. She of course let go and got out of the way. Thanks to that game I had to go through physical therapy for my back and I am still in pain as I type right now. I actually sold the game because I decided I needed to make room (I soon had 35 games) and I was pissed off at it. I thought that since I had it on the 60 in 1 pcb that I would be just fine (never had tried it on the 60 in 1, it was shut off). After selling the game a few days later I went to turn it on in the 60 in 1 and man was I disappointed. You cannot play Zaxxon without the correct controller. It bothered me so bad that 1 Year later I contacted the person that I sold the Zaxxon to and he still had it. He actually had been trying to sell it he said for $400. We all know how hard it is to sell a Zaxxon for $250 (Zaxxon gets no love). Anyways, we worked out a fair trade and I have it back. It seems that my back is screwed up for the rest of my life. Because of that I don't think I will never sell my 1st game. I am one of the few Zaxxon lovers out there.

Yes, Donkey Kong I got from Gaymond Lee in 1996. I think I paid $600 because it had 75% of the side art and there were no repos back then. It's been on my list to restore but I'm thinking of not since the condition is nostalgic to me.

Yep, my Six Million Dollar Man pinball and my Asteroids DeLuxe (First pin/First arcade) are both still in my collection. SMDM is currently down and in need of repair, but Asteroids DeLuxe has been completely cleaned and rebuilt from the power supply, to the AR, to the Board to the monitor...

Absolutely. I can't imagine ever getting rid of my DK. That was a special game back in the day anyway, and the fact it was my first one makes it that much more special.

My first game was Galaxian bought from a bar owner at closing time. Signed over my paycheck at hauled it away at 2am on 2/26/84. Still have it today

My first game was Asteroids, and its still in the gameroom...

Same here. I got mine back in 1986-87 and it was my first restore which is how I found the arcade communities online. It still here and I am getting ready to put on one of Troy's new control panels.
Someone had used testors paint over the original control panel before I bought it, always wanted a screened version to replace it.

My first game was my all-time favorite, Millipede, that I bought in 1997 for $375. I still have it and ALL the other games I've ever bought :)

Just put one of Troys panels on mine, with new leafs.. So awesome..
I had a nice CP with the full wrap overlay, but the screened one is unreal nice..

Got my first pinball machine (Gottlieb Jacks Open) in 1982, and I still have it. My first video game was Galaxian, and sadly that left to make room for new stuff. But ACAM has it now, so it's gone to a good home where it can be enjoyed by many.

My first arcade machine is a 4-slot Neo-Geo. I still have it, and it is still on the mark for a restore. Right now it really just needs joysticks and some repair to one side, and new t-molding.

Even though I have put a lot of work into it so far I would sell it if I came across a nice condition Super Neo 29 candy cabinet. However, without getting a suitable candy cabinet Neo to replace it the cabinet will stay. I have several games I have purchased for it that will not leave my hands.

I never sold one of my vids.
My first vid was Robotron bought in 2000 and the ssecond Tempest in 2001. Actually i have 12 vids and i can't see the day i will sell one of them !

My first working game was a Centipede, but with lacking sideart it was easily traded. My first pin was a Shaq Attack, which too was easily sold as well.

My first game was a Space Invaders Deluxe that I bought off Ebay and had shipped from Florida when shipping was cheap. Sold it when I thought I was going to seel the bar, but ended up getting a better one which I still have.
