Do you play harder when the hi-score is saved?

I was playing some games today and it occurred to me that I tend to work harder to get better on games that save high scores. Anyone else here like that?

Yes it makes it alot funner. Trying too figure out different patterens and scoring for each different game too break your scores.

Oh yeah. Beating your records is always much more fun for me.

Indeed HS are a great thing! That is my biggest complaint about the 60-1. At least it does keep the highest one, albeit no name... :(

Been playing my Tron lots more since I added the battery! HS saves are a good motivator!

Games that don't save high scores don't tend to catch my interest much. Play it a few times, and unless its really fun...where is the replay factor? Especially if you complete the game?

Games that also use a fixed scoring system I don't like, unless the gameplay is fun. My TMNT for instance, you have fixed # of baddies and thus a fixed score. You can't aim for anything but a perfect game really, and there's no bonus even for not losing a man etc. I've long gotten as high a score as I can possibly reach really.

Really? I play the games I like, and try to better my scores, but I don't play harder if the game saves the score or not. If I get a new score on any game without a HS save kit, I have to write it on the post-it note on top of the cabinet, thats pretty tough.. but the score is still "saved"
