One of the first things I noticed when I brought my Time Warp home was the volume was set pretty high on it. I was surprised by this bc it's got this loud bassy hum when it's working properly, and I'm thinking at that volume the game would be loud as s**t.

Also, with these games that have some great sound effects going on them, does it get frustrating for you when sounds from neighboring pins bleed into the game you're playing?

(sorry this ended up being a 2-part question)

I like everything loud, TV, stereo, and my pins, but when others are over I usually adjust the volume down to a level where conversation is easy. I have a decent stereo in my arcade and I am fortunate enough to be able to rock out as loud as I want because my wife's bedroom is on the opposite part of the house and she likes her TV on when going to sleep. Not once has she asked me to turn it down :)

I do find that the default volume on newer williams games to be a bit louder than I would be comfortable with for in home use. Can anyone tell me why there there is a volume override in the menu that you need to turn off to get the volume lower? That setting always confused me.

As far as bleed from other games, I love it because it makes me feel awesome hearing the games make noise like a real arcade. Plus I know all the sounds the machines make and even if I cannot hear it, I know what is going on.

I live in an apartment at the moment so I have my pin volume turned down as low as it can go.

When I am playing High Speed, I want passing cars to think they are in a lot of trouble. :)

Awesome.

I prefer mine on the loud side as well, but the wife does not so usually in the middle most of the time. I'm not usually running more than one machine at a time though, so the bleed over doesn't effect me.

No I don't like them too loud.
Usually put wpc games on 6 or 7, not louder. One or two may be set on 9 but that's an exception.

I do install a resistor in the backbox so have more bass than default and usually also install new backbox speakers to upgrade the quality.
So while the amount of decibels don't increase, the sound has more 'volume' (more bass) and sounds better.

I like to them to be heard during play, but not so loud that you can't talk to others next to you.

Hyperball is the exception. That is pretty loud on it's own, so the volume is up a bit.

When I take games to pinball shows, you need to turn them way up. There is so much other ambient noise it is just a requirement. I usually scare the crap out of myself when I bring them back home, because you don't realize just HOW loud you have turned them up, LOL.
