do you like to keep your games 'all-orig' or just plain "running"?

When I was troubleshooting my Omega Race a bit, I swapped out the linear PS for another one that I had. I've since found out the original one is still good, so I will be swapping it back in because it's the original board for the game. How do I know? Because the game's serial number is stamped on it. I don't know if that's still done for all current games, but as many know, the "classics" were all built with the game unit's serial number stamped or stickered on all of the game components.

Now I'm not dead-set hardcore about keeping all of the numbers original, but I like to when it's feasible. Maybe it's the classic car motorhead in me bleeding through..

Just thought I'd see what everyone else here does with their games in regard to this, or if they're just plain happy to know that when the time comes to power up the game, it works (the number on the components is irrelevant) :)

I usually try to keep mine as original as possible. In some cases though it can't be done. For example if I put in a switcher I make it a point to leave the original in and make it possible to convert back if I ever sell it to someone who wants it that way.

i have a big problem keeping things stock when it comes to my cars, truck, and quads just cause of poor looks & performance from the factory. But when im collecting vids im all about matching #'s & anything N.O.S to get me as close to as factory condition.

I prefer to keep it stock appearing but running reliably. I am not opposed to replacing a linear power supply with a switcher or rewiring the control panel with spade connectors instead of soldering directly to the leaf switches. However I don't change everything, for example I don't find flat screens to be stock appearing so I don't use them.

BTW, I am the same way with my cars. I never kept a "pleasure" vehicle stock, whether it was a VW Karmann Ghia or my El Camino SS. Upgrades to the ignition system, exhaust, intake, porting heads, whatever my budgets (time and money) would allow. I have an IH Travelall in my driveway that I intend to put EFI on in the near future. Hopefully it will become my new game hauler...

I PM'd you on this Oryk, otherwise I would have had to hijack this thread. :D
