I'm working on sheet metal parts today during any free time I have at home today. It's my youngest daughters 2nd birthday today, so the whole family is locked down at home. I seem to have some free time today. Anyhow, here's what I've just drawn up. I'm showing a front-face view of the panel, no isometrics. I'm sure ALL of you know what this is for. :) Hint: look at the file name! LOL

Anyhow, this is an example of some of the work I'm doing over here. In addition to this one, I'm also working on the 720 control panel, 720 speaker grill, Paperboy control panel and Assault control panel. Anything else you guys need/want? Anything made from sheet metal is EASY and fairly quick. Only time consuming part is drawing it up and keeping the specs within .001" which is pretty tight tolerance for a control panel.

I just drew this one up a few minutes ago. The part does not depict the perforated metal (these are welded into the large 7" holes).

Thanks go to Stephen/Mylstar for allowing me access to a NOS part. Measurements are absolutely perfect due to this fact. This, of course, saved me hours of time trying to extrapolate measurements from a used/worn part.

Next!!

Looks like I'm going to be firing up the laser this week!

It cost a small fortune to run that machine, so I like to have work lined up and ready to throw on it so there's no wasted time. When I run jobs for my clients, I charge by the second to run this monster!! LOL

Ok, so I have MH cp, LL cp, 720 (cp and grill) and Assault cp lined up. Paperboy cp is on hold for now. I need to find my sample panel. Anything else sheet metal-wise of any interest to anyone?

Dave

Almost forgot.

Here's another panel I drew up today (mentioned it, but did not include a jpg).

Enjoy

Actually, that last one is the Assault control panel.

I don't have a spare CC/C&D control panel handy, otherwise I'd add it to the list. Anyone want to help with drawing up control panels? I use solidworks 2009. If you're not sure how to work with sheet metal in solidworks, draw it up as a flat panel and I can add all the bends.

Dave

very nice control panels dave. is this one for CLOAK N DAGGER? if not, that would be another great cp for the crystal castles cabs out there. chris

Yep. However, they'll be blank, as in no artwork....at first. Once I figure out how to screen print directly onto the panel, then I'll offer them as drop-in reproductions.

I've got the artwork finished up in AI already. :) Just need pantone color codes or something near-NOS to color match from.

Dave

Will the Lunar Lander Panels be available soon:D

Wow Dave im very interested. I got ahold af Archer, he has done some CPO runs for Lunar Lander. He told me he was going to try and do another run in 2 months. I think I would rather have one of yours, with the screen print. Even a guess on when this might happen?

Here's a small jpg version of the artwork for the LL control panel. Anyone notice any obvious errors? Artwork is not my area of expertise, but I can do the work. I just need a lot of eyes looking over my shoulder just in case I make some mistakes. Color matching I can take care of, provided I have something nice to work with.

dave... not sure if you have seen this yet, but there is a great blog over on coinopsace regarding Cn'D repro'd artwork and metal control panel (amazing work that rich and francis have done so far).

that Cn'D control panel would be awesome to have made someday. chris

I have seen archers work. It's beautiful!! In fact, I've compared his work to screen printed work and quite frankly, I think they're just as good.

However, the orginal LL (asteroids and even asteroids deluxe *prototype*) had the artwork screen printed directly to the control panel. That's the way I intend to go with my reproductions. I try to hold my parts as close to the originals while making transparent improvements at the same time.

Anyhow, I'm not going to lock myself into a timeframe on these control panels, especially the screenprinting process. However, I'm working on RAM Controls projects almost full time now (have you noticed the constant releases of new parts?), so it will be sooner rather than later. I can say that much, at least. :)

I will have my panel next week, and maybe fullthrottle can look at his.

Dave, I want to thank you for you Lunar Lander work. Your work is very important to the hobbie, and is appreciated more than I can say:D

Yeah, I saw that blog. Nice work, indeed.

Artwork isn't my bag, but if it has anything to do with metal, plastics....heck, even WOOD - I can work with it.

Point is, I can make those C&D control panels quite easily. I just need something to work from.

Thanks, I appreciate the assistance.

I enjoy doing this work, so it's no problem.

That reminds me. I wanted to bring up a subject real quick.

My website is currently offline for the weekend. I'll have it back online later today or Monday. No worries.

Also, while I'm thinking about this.... Some people seem to think that RAM Controls itself is a BIG business. It's not. RAM Controls exists mostly as a name, a HUGE amount of stock, myself as the brains/talent behind the whole thing and the use of my MAIN BUSINESS as the backing for the equipment/manufacturing.

The picture on my main website is actually for my MAIN BUSINESS, not really RAM Controls. But since I make all the parts for RAM Controls at that building, so it's not too far of a stretch to use the photo. Besides, it looks nice. :)

Anyhow, a few years ago, I met up with various people at my NOW ex-business partners old business location in Huntington Beach at a retail unit located on the premises of Storage USA - a self storage facility. They actually have store front buildings there as well. They look like crap, too. LOL Anyhow, for some reason, even though I explained that it wasn't MY building, someONE concocted the idea that it was. And now it's turned into some totally old-lady rumor that the building on my main page isn't mine....and then rants into some ridiculous complaint.

Weak, dude. It's a HOBBY business and I could not have made this more clear over the years. Bonehead. LOL Bottom line, I make the best fricken repro arcade parts on the planet whether you like it or not. Deal with it.

Ok, enough said. Back to work.
