Do you guys smell shilling?

Why would you bid with 10 days remaining in an auction? If there is a buy-it-now, then sure. But I can't imagine winning any reasonable auction with bid 10 days before it's over.

it used to be fairly easy to detect shilling --- the same bidder always bids on the same seller, etc. Now that ebay hides all that good information, you don't know what is going on.

Yeah, I don't pretend the auctions on ebay are fair. One step above Craigs List.

But if you have to go through that crap to get what you want, so be it. :)

That is a really nice cocktail, and it's worth 1500 to someone (even if it might be the current owner!)

If someone is going to try to shill bid on me, they have 4 seconds. That is the earliest I will put in a bid these days. It is getting to the point that I just get the BIN stuff on eBay. I guess I have lost patience with the bidding. It is pretty hard to get a decent deal these days.

I guess its sort of shill bidding.. I suspect some put up a real $1475 bid and the seller decided to find out what the max was..

I think next you will the high bid getting retracted, and it sit at $1475 until some tops it..

It's gotten to the point where I hate the bidding wars and the sniping. Most of the time when I'm looking for something,I hope that if I find it,it is BIN. I love BIN! No fighting over it,just one bid and it's yours!

Here's a totally crazy thought: What if there actually are a couple people beyond the tightass confines of KLOV that are gonna get there hands on one of these no matter what it costs them. Just a thought

I was watching an auction last week, consisting of multiple parts, of which I was only interested in 1 piece. as the auction ended in a heated bidding war I contacted the seller (as you dont know who won anymore) and asked him to forward my email addy to the winner with my interest in the one piece. Within the hour I was contacted back from the "seller" offering to sell me the piece because the winner had backed out. Shill at its finest

This!!!

I pretty much just do the BIN. If its a decent price and I don't want to wait a week, then I will just buy it. I hate bidding and to me it's a waste of time, unless it's something I really want. Because usually I can find other places on the web to buy what I need. But once and a while Ebay will have better prices.

I've been an Ebay member since '96. And I used to enjoy bidding/selling. But with how expensive it's gotten, and how much things have changed. Very rarly do I sell anything on ebay anymore. I pretty much stick to buying. I do my selling on different forums and such. Less hassle and the for the most part, people don't screw you over.

Well, I would be one of them, Cause I was willing to go up to $1500. However, I find it odd that the current high bidder only has a rating of 24. Just seems odd to me.

Really? 24 is quite common. It took me two years to get up to 25 when I started eBay. Buyers are often casual with their buying, not everyone is OCD about it like the more hardcore purchasers of parts. If the dude in question only buys arcade machines and parts, assuming he bought 12 games and the rest are parts, it's not that farfetched. 2 feedback? I'd be wary. 0 feedback? It's a shillfest. But I don't see anything suspicious about 24. Hell, anyone dedicated enough to buy 24 things on a dedicated shilling account is hardcore enough, they deserve the shilling rewards =P
