Do you guys always get stares and random visitors if you have a Garcade?

I have a garagecade.
So on July 5th, my neighbor decides to light off 2 M-80s in the street. It sounded like 2 shotguns going off. He then leaves the house.
So I go into my garage and start working on my arcades. I am in the middle of a great game of Black Widow when I see a cop car pull up next to the garage. I thought, "Oh sh!t"... everyone is gone and this cop is going to think it was me.
So he motions me to come over, which sucked because I was in the middle of a high score run. So he starts to ask me about the noise and I tell him I thought it was fireworks. He then looks back at my garage and says, "Where the hell did you get all of those? Did you rob a Chuck E Cheese?" LOL!!
I said, no, I have been collecting them. He said he might call up the rest of his squad to come over and play some games. I told him it would be fine as long as I could fire off some rounds from his MP-5 that he had in the squad car. He said he didn't think so.

Other than that... yes... I get looks all the time.. including the Schwans guy who comes all the time to my neighbors and then asks if he can play.

I too always look in open garages hoping to somkeday find someone like me in the neighboorhood. I have picked up 2 dead machines less than 2 miles from me

good point. on the flip side, i always keep my eye out for games/pins in garages, cause you never know if someone's wanting to sell. however, i have yet to see games in someone else's, aside from other collectors of course.

I try to keep mine closed, however people have caught me during a few cab builds and repair when I needed some air. One time in particular the neighborhood teenagers came over and almost broke the neck of a monitor I had out for a project. I've never had a non collector that wants to do anything other than play the games for free or sell me a product I don't want. I really enjoy visiting with local collectors though, they have all been some of the greatest people I've met.

I actually live near a busy street but the angle only shows so much. Many people know that they are arcades up in there however.

This is what people see when driving by and my garage door is up.
Yes, there's an outrun carcass there and tomorrow is trash day.

a trick I do is we sometimes get flaky people supposedly selling magazines...I whip out my phone snap there pic and tell them no thank you........deer in headlight look...you took my picture!....sure did, and if anything is missing or I hear about any trouble on my street and your picture goes to the cops...now beat it before I call them now....not one person has stayed longer than that conversation.....F'em ...maggots scoping out the stuff we have for a return trip.

When I am in the garage with the door open there are always Mexicans in beat up pick up trucks who slow down and take a look. Sometimes they are trying to find out if anyone is around so they can stop and help themselves to whatever they can steal in 30 seconds and take off. Usually they are looking to steal power tools which can be easily resold.

I need to visit you and post a nice INS sign visible from the street or a Smile your on camera sign both tend to scare off those those kinds of thieves.

I'm from Southern California. As such, I don't trust a damn soul. I keep my garage closed as much as possible. I'll even delay bringing a game in from the truck if there are too many people out and about on the street. For some reason it seems people think that you gotta be RICH to own these things... let alone 2 dozen. I don't like people in general... so I don't like people snooping around my garcade...

That said... Pizza Delivery drivers, DirecTV guys, etc. all seem to dig it... and now 3 or 4 of the local kids come by on weekends asking to play (which I let em do from time to time)...

I can see where you are coming from. At first I didn't like the looks either, don't know if they are really curious or scouting. A person's house caught on fire months ago near my friends house. Then about a week ago they got burglarized.

Funny thing is I remember making a comment to my friend about how stupid the people were for throwing out brand new flat screen TV, DVD player, PS3 etc etc boxes while watching them do it a few days prior. That they had just replaced from the fire damage, now everyone in the neighborhood knows what kind of TV your watching.

I don't trust people I don't know any further than a lead balloon can float.
