Do you fix Asteroids game boards? I have a proposition!

Hi,

I have 4, yes 4! Asteroids game boards that have issues.

3 play blind and one is not playing at all.

3 are Asteroids, one is Asteroids Deluxe. I've spent a lot of time troubleshooting the monitors, and have them working and have neither the time nor the patience to start getting into board repair having never attempted it. Ok, I did some troubleshooting, but let's not get carried away.

I only need the Asteroids Deluxe board and one regular Asteroids board to work. I have no need for the other two.

I would like to send all 4 to someone and get the Deluxe and one regular board repaired. You can have the other two, as part of your "fee".

Of course, I'll pay shipping both ways.

PM me with a price and let's get this thing done! Then you will have two boards, and I'll have two boards and everyone's happy!!!

Thank you in advance!

FYI, a real common failure on the Asteroids boards is that the crystal is busted off. Before you give up on those boards you should look at that.

A very uncommon feature is a game playing blind with a busted off crystal though ;) . But yeah, you should check that on the completely dead one.

Are you sure that the monitor is working? In the 4 or 5 Asteroids/AD boards I've fixed over the years, none of mine played blind... maybe it's common and just didn't happen to me, but if you have 3 boards that play blind, maybe you have a bad monitor. You should also switch them into test mode... it should give you error codes if it detects a problem, or possibly the test pattern on the monitor.

Monitor is good (at least on my cocktail table)

I went over that monitor over and over - even moreso because I thought "It can't be the board" and even moreso because I had 4 of them.

Finally got a pic, off of the one board, and my X and Y voltages on the rest are all over the place.

Mostly with the ones I have, the spotkiller would come on because the X or Y voltage coming from the game board were too high.

This seemed like the best option after all the time I've spent!

I will check that crystal on the one dead one though, it's doing that thing where there's a repeated beep over and over and in test mode, just a diagonal line in the corner flashes.

Sounds like its watchdogging...crystal is prob ok there...something else is wrong.
