I don't know if this has ever been asked before, but do you ever check the counters when you get a new cabinet? I never paid it much attention until the other day. I was looking for a part in my scrounge box and one of the counters I pulled from a coin door caught my eye. It read '126454'. assuming $0.25 per play that works out to $31,613.50. I have no idea what game it came off of anymore. I think it was a Joust that had been converted to Bubble Bobble. Williams games came with counters in software so they didn't have physical counters in them. When I unconvert them I usually pull the counters. So this was put in AFTER it was converted to something.

Not a bad return on investment.

Do you ever snoop and check out the counters? What is the best you have found so far?

I just picked up The Pit yesterday and the counter only read 7 plays on it, the person I bought it from said it was in the box when he got it and he never really played it.

I check them out of curiosity, but when your talking about games that have been retired for so long, a counter wont really tell you how much the game has acually earned. OP's put in free credits, private owners put in free credits ect.., not to mention the maintenance cost is almost awlays unknown. I also wonder if any have rolled over.

I agree, they dont really mean much unless its really low. That would mean it could be HUO.
On my games I will credit up a bunch of clicks and most of the time they are turned off with credits.

I only check counters on games that look to be in MINT HUO condition :)D) in the hopes that I find a low number...

There you go! If it looks HUO and has 42 clicks on it then its probably HUO. Reminds me, I want to go check the counter on the pac I picked up this morning.
