do you disable the tilt on your machines?

I curl a biz card in the receiver so tilts do not count. I have also loosened the leg bolts a smidge so you can get a good shove. Prob a bad idea on the not tight legs though. I just hate draining.

No, I think that's part of the experience. I keep them where it's hard to tilt but I don't disable. I like getting a warning or two before it locks up. Pressing your luck adds to the excitement. That's interesting about the leg bolts. I'd try it if I could be certain I didn't do any damage.

So how do you measure yourself with other pinball players, By height? :)

I don't but I will set it to warn 2 or 3 times on newer games depending on how rough I want to get with it. I've disabled it on some older EM games but I'm not intending to be moving the machine all over the place with nudging.

Loosening the leg bolts sounds like a terrible idea to me. You're going to damage the cabinet doing that.

Nope. In fact, when I got my Funhouse, it was disabled. I re-enabled it. Like it's been said before, it's part of the experience.

Well...

I buy all of the parts to get the plumb bob tilt working correctly, and then set it pretty liberal, so I can nudge, but not get carried away. I disable the slam tilts on the doors because I never slam a game, and it annoys me when I have to get into a game to fix something, close the door and loose the game I was playing.

I hate it when people abuse my machines.. I also consider moving the machine cheating. The only bump that is acceptable is when a ball is stuck. I know some of you will cry foul on this but....

I make sure the tilt is on. If you tilt you loose your ball. If you tilt again... i bannish you from the game room. No shoes in the game room either...keeps people from kicking the machines out of frustration.

I was a weeeee lad when I.....

I was early 20's when I got my first pin and set it up for my friends. I learned the nudge and never looked back for 10 years. Now that I am caring for them again I am learning it all over and just wondered what you guys do. The bob is adjustable so maybe I can do a (insert number here) step program to get back to normal.

My bob was missing when I got my Fan-Tas-Tic... eventually I will probably restore it just to make the machine complete but it is the last thing on my priority list. I still need to fix the Match and the credits from the coin slots, and replace half a dozen bulb sockets.

bumping/shaking is inherent to the pinball experience. that is why they put the bob there. you can save a ball from draining if you do it right, or also get that last lane that you need to get more bonus points. Having it function properly is important - as the game designers added that "risk versus reward" element to the game play.

I keep tilt on but it is very liberal as far as causing it to tilt. I actually don't nudge to much anyway so I would probably barely tilt.

Dude... nudging is a HUGE part of pinball... you DO know that, right?

In any case... I leave my tilts alone. I will set newer pins to 2 or 3 warnings, but that's it. There are SOME games that absolutely REQUIRE nudging to play longer than a minute or two (I'm looking at YOU Spy Hunter)...

Very well put! "Loosen the leg bolts", LOL!!!!! Try putting (wheel) casters on instead of leg leveler's, to get the nudge of ball you want without cabinet damage, just a thought.

Also with a game like Bride of Pinbot you're highly encouraged to nudge around in places like the mini playfield to try and get the ball to go down the side of the heartbeat ramp that you want. It's awesome.
