I have been playing a bit lately and I tell you what I was kicking A$$ to get 45,550 tonite.

Man the little pods get relentless at taking dead aim at you and firing 10-20 straight shots at you until you are dead.

I actually got past the pentagon (not sure if thats how I should refer to it) level tonite but I died on the bonus stage and didn't get to see the next level.

I got 65,000+ a couple weeks ago at the Santa Cruz boardwalk arcade (and yes, I had been and was drinking at the time). Their classics corner is pretty awesome. I put a 60K+ up on Q*bert too. Woo hoo!

I assume your talking single player single ship.. I hardly ever play that version. I like the the linked ship versions. I think I put 120k+ without much effort on the one at CAX. I was a bit surprised it was the high score.. I think the high score on my machine is like 250k.

The red white and blue pentagon level is cool, but I like spinning gold book level..

Oh to have a Space Duel again :(

Some day.....some day.

I am 40 now and dont remember what my high score was when I had the machine (Wayyyyyyyyyyyyy back in 1987).

Are you playing 1p with one ship or two? I almost always play the two ships. My high score is 138,150.

Dang, I'd love to have a S.D. one of these days. I've never owned one yet. I just missed a dirt cheap one recently so I'm bummed. Some day. In the mean=time I'll enjoy it vicariously through you!

I think it's a great game. Probably my favorite color vector. And I love my major havoc.

I remember playing it a CEC back in the day. We had to drive about a half hour to get there so we almost never went. But that one imprinted me and I've wanted one ever since.

Obviously one of my favorites... It was my first game. Stopped at an Op's warehouse and picked the Space Duel out of what he had. I loved to play it BITD with the color vectors, tethered ships, and the four speakers throwing that thundering bass when you blow shit up. :D

Of course, now I have two....

About 3 weeks ago I got a Space Duel and a Black Widow on the same night.

Surprising, but I have been playing the Space Duel more. I am up to about 70K on the dual ship mode. Single ship is good as well, great maneuverability that way, but I can only get to about 40K

Now, why can't there be free play with attract mode, like all the other Atari vector games!? I gues I will have to rig up a switch, because I love the attract mode in this game.
