Anyone know if there are shippers available to deliver games at the Timonium, MD auction for deliveries within an hour or so away that will be at the auction? If so, any idea of cost per game?

I was wondering the same thing. I'm going to have an SUV with me so room for only one game, but I might buy more depending on what shows up.

Does anybody have any thoughts on the fixed price sale on Friday? Can deals be found there or is stuff usually priced at "retail" prices? I'd rather go to that than spend all day Saturday there.

I plan on going friday to check out games but they still have games arriving Saturday morning. I have a 16ft trailer and pickup.

Yea, I decided to bring my trailer too. I really only wanted to limit myself to one game but after looking at past auction results, I'm going to make sure I have room for some project cabs. I'd help you out but I'm going the other direction and I'm hosting a Halloween party at night. You could always rent a U-Haul. That might actually be cheaper than a shipper.

For this being my first auction, I'm pretty excited about it. I think my gf is ready to punch me in the mouth so I'll stop talking about it every 5 minutes.

I might take you up on your offer George, if I find something I'm sure we can work out there fair payment for the haul...thanks!

Said this in one of the other Timonium threads, but with specific talk of getting things to Herndon, I might as well pipe up here as well. I'm working Friday night and have other stuff going on Saturday so I won't be able to get to the auction in person. If there's a brown Rowe BC-1 change machine there that someone can get cheap ( 150 max) and get it to Reston I'd be happy to pay delivery/gas/whatever.

auction hints.....

Heres a few tips to consider for the auction:

1. Weather may be bad on saturday, so bring tarps or an enclosed vehicle.

2. purchase at the sale or bring along that plastic cling wrap stuff to seal/wrap up your machines for transport.

3. rope and ratchet straps are a must.

4. mattress bags make great game bags.

5. bring a long extension cord.

6. There are people at the sale that can deliver games, ask at the main office when you get to the sale.

7. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also remember there is a percentage on top of the sale price that you have to pay, alot of times 10% or more and then taxes.

Good luck at the auction guys, it sucks we hardly ever have any type of arcade auctions within 500 miles.

Man this really really really really sucks. Of course not only is it halloween day, but a really good friend is coming for a visit that weekend - it would kinda be rude of me to take off to Maryland, but if I pushed, I could make enough room for at least 2-3-4 games in my box truck, although I would need to get some hauling $ to make up for gas, but it isn't that bad. I used to go to Timonium once or twice a year with the truck for the electronics show (hamfest) but quit vendoring due to gas prices and just lack of interest.

That said if plans fall through or change, I may be able to go. I don't have much of any room for really even 1-2 cabs anymore, and even thats going to require a major change to my layout and having to run a generator to have all the games on at once. I just found out about this from someone else telling me bout it. Grrrrr.

Talking to a couple folks on the 147.300 ( http://147300.com/ has the details if you're unfamiliar w/ it and happen to be in the WV/VA/MD area w/ 2 meter gear, though if you've done that hamfest you probably know of it, looks like it'd be tricky at best to hit from your house) repeater a week or so ago, seems the interest and attendance for the Timonium hamfest has been picking up the last year or two. I was actually thinking of going up there for the next one as it's one of the few that isn't at the buttcrack of dawn and I've not been to a hamfest yet given my 2nd shift sleep schedule. Maybe in another couple years it'll be worth the run again. :) </derail>

There are usually a few people hanging around with signs that say they will deliver games. Pretty good if you have a trailer and have nothing else to do for the day...I talked to one guy and he said he made about $600 for the day at $75 a delivery.

I go, well, I normally would go for computer stuff or electronics parts, my brother is the one into ham stuff although he just uses a little handheld. I actually also have a handheld but never got a license or anything, so it just sits. I'm sort of on the fence as to the interest in it - most of the hamfests are dying a quick death due to gas prices, old timers just not caring and people nickel and diming you to death no matter what you ask. I've had people spend 10 minutes trying to get me to come down on a $5 price! I do love to go to them and hope that especially the timonium one out of all of them stay active. Its definitely come down in size, but not much compared to others. I'm just about done vendoring for the time being at them unless I go just to clean house and practically give crap away, and I'm probably going to be selling the box truck at some point - I figured I might as well get some use out of it before I do though lol.
