Do Japanese vertical Jamma boards output video DIFFERENT from US Jamma games?

I have a vertical jamma cabinet using a multi-jamma switcher. All of the US boards that I have installed function as expected and the video image is upright. However, when I plug Japanese vertical jamma boards into the cabinet, the video is "flipped" upside down 180 degrees. And there doesn't appear to be a bios or dipswitch setting to fix this on the boards. Not only have I seen this with some Japanese Cave shooters, but also with a babystar vertical multi board.

Has anyone else run into this as well? It would appear that i am going to have to run a totally separate vertical Jamma cabinet for the Japanese games. Thoughts, ideas or experiences to share???

I believe there's only a handful of Jamma games that don't have a flip switch option. Those off the top of my head are Last Mission, Super Pinball Action, Namco Museum Vol 1, and that's it. What game is it you're trying to run?

What is Namco Museum? Do you mean Namco Classics? If so, it works fine in my JAMMA cabinets without needing to flip any dips.

The output is the same all jamma pcbs are interchangeable plug and play in your machine except some games are inverted. Not sure if it's Japanese games only or if it includes the newer jamma games in general. Some games have monitor flip dips some do not. A yoke flip switch will get around this annoyance. You need 2 switches, 1 for the screen flip and another to mirror flip otherwise everything will be reversed after everything is right side up. You can also play classic non jamma games in your cocktail via jamma adapters. Ran into this same issue with my candy cabs. An electrician friend wired in yoke flip switches, now all 3 of my machines have screen flip capability.

I've got that problem on a couple horizontal JAMMA boards as well. My Black Tiger board has a dipswitch to flip the picture, but my Trog board doesn't. And as luck would have it, the cabinet I planned on using them in, is upside down for Trog :( (and it's not my cab, so I can't do the yoke wire hack to it)

So far, I have run into this issue with the following boardsets:

Esprade
Espgaluda
Babystar 465-in-1 vertical

I looked through the settings and could not find a screen flip for ANY of them...

Yoke flip switches are needed or you can determine which 2 plugs they are on the chassis and pull, reverse and plug back in. It's too bad they don't hav soft dip settings. That's whatcha get Lee for messing around w/expensive cave pcbs ;)

Thanks for all the helpful info. What made me post this thread is the fact that I was about to purchase another Japanese board and had the foresight to ask the seller if it was inverted, and if so, if there was a dipswitch or setting in the menu to fix. When he confirmed that it was indeed the same as other Japanese boards, i decided to come on here and ask what my options are. As it turns out, i have a namco classics volume 1 in my Galaga cabinet and the image is NOT inverted. The board that i WANT to buy is also a namco board, and I THINK that it is on the same hardware as the Namco Classics board. How exactly is the inverted settings on the Namco Classics board handled (if you know off hand)? Again, thanks for all the info...
