DO IT YOURSELF - GT LIVE Flat-Screen Cabinet

this only with the live boardset? can you hook up a fore boardset to a tv?

also didnt you lose the other smaller lcd screen? whats that for in the game? just scores?

It can work with the live pcb as well.

There is a dip switch seting on the I/O pcb which you can eliminate the smaller screen. During gameplay, the images that would normally be on the upper screen will now appear in the upper right corner of the flat screen.

Pretty cool.

That is not a dedicated live cabinet but a fore converted to a live. Here they show a video how to convert a live cabinet to a pedestal cab.

http://na.suzohapp.com/amusement/gameparts/95004500.htm

Correct. But here's the MAJOR difference. You can buy that conversion from Happ for a mere $ 499.00 and add to it your 32" flat screen for $ 329.00 THEN add the $300 mounting "bars" (http://na.suzohapp.com/monitors/49567210.htm) that Happ sells for a total of $ 1128.00

- OR -

Do my conversion INCLUDING the flat screen for $ 485.00.

Any more thought involved ???

Nothing against Happ. I buy ALOT off of them every month. I just would never waste that kind of money on that thing. Granted that kit is probably easier to do...but I guess that comes with a price.

question was, can I hook up a fore boardset to a tv?

Let me check when I get to the shop this morning. Pretty sure the answer will be YES either way.
The other option would be to get a CGA to VGA converter pcb. Then I know for sure you can hook it up to the LCD.

But....let me take a look later today.

Dave.

thanks, I know theres the video card, that has the vga going right to the board though, so not sure if you would just go from the video card to a monitor, or if it must go through the board.

the pedestal looks awesome without a doubt! and using a newer monitor to me would be a lot better.

Now that you mention it. YES. I believe you would disconnect the vga going to the GT pcb ( NOT the end which plugs into the video card ) and run it up to the LCD TV. You'll need a longer VGA cord of course.

I will try it this morning when I get to the shop and post the results.

Ok. Here @ the shop I disconnected the VGA cable off from the GT Fore video board and connected a longer cable to a 19" LG Flat screen.

Well it did not work. LCD TV said "out of range". There are only 2 settings on the GT Fore pcb for resolution. Both did not work.

HOWEVER.....the LG LCD wouldn't allow me to change IT'S settings without a picture displayed. So..there's a slim chance this may actually work. But I won't be able to try it again until I buy the next 32" LCD for my current GT project.

SO...till then....I'll give it another try in the near future.

Dave.

Here's a pic of GT LIVE Chopped Cabinet #2 as it nears completion.

Just have to install the poles, TV mount and LCD TV and it should be ready to go...

TV mount is attached. I have already painted the poles yesterday ( after this photo was taken ) and should have this project pretty much near completion. In the next day or so I'll go buy the LCD TV and that's pretty much it. More photos when it's finished, stay tuned....

Looks awesome, My 05 board is down and looking to do a full resto with the complete and a Silver Strike in the same cabinet. Looking forward to the How to guide, did anyone ever figure out if you can hook a flat screen to Complete board?
