Would you trade a Theater of Magic for a Simpson's pinball party?

I haven't really played either. I intended to buy the TOM to trade for something else.

Got it home and looked at it closely and found it to be in great shape. Its going to clean up very well. I have played it and it seems pretty fun. The magic box isn't functioning well.

I haven't played the Simpson Pinball party much; but it is working all the way and he says its in good shape. I remember liking it when I played it a few years back.

So what would you do? Keep it, trade it? How do the values line up?

The Tom is worth around 500 more if it is in good shape. But I would rather have Tspp over Tom.

I got some pics post in the Trading section.

It's going to make a very nice machine with just some minor fixes and a good cleaning. The playfield is good, and the side art is excellent sans one scratch.

This makes it all the harder to determine what to do.

I would try to find a TSPP and go play it!
For me TOM would be a keeper but thats just because I have lots of fond memories playing it when it was new and chasing it from arcade to arcade.
TSPP has a very "deep" ruleset and has more staying power in a small collection. If you find yourself bored with TOM then I would say go for it.
Personally I wouldnt do it but Im prob in the minority!

got the pics. The machine has pretty substanial fade. Its kinda of a bummer. It was a strong consideration. Still thinking, but I am hoping that something HUO comes along.

I'd trade.
But a TSPP is hard to find in Europe and while a ToM is great (really love the flow), it's not deep enough for my taste..

I have had a TOM for two years now. Although it has been my favorite game, I have been toying with the idea of selling/trading it for a LOTR.

To me, a TOM feels like it should be worth more than a LOTR/TSPP, but if you look at sell prices, they are very similar.

What game has substantial fade? TSPP's art looks faded by design. The big characters and the logo should be vivid and pop. The background characters looked washed out, but that is the way it was designed.

That's a good question...

I'd say ToM is a more valuable pin in the long run. It will never be reproduced again, and they've made tons of runs of TSPP. OTOH, TSPP is a better game than ToM in terms of gameplay. The market values are very similar on the pins. I'd say if the TSPP is in very good condition, it's a fair trade.

It's really a matter of preference. Try to find a simpsons pinball party and give it a go. I love the simpsons theme personally and as others have said it is really deep with a lot to do during the game. I play it on visualpinball all the time.

I love movie themed stuff; and I used to like the simpsons. Theater of magic is in the top 10, and its probably there for a reason.

I also have the idea in my head that theater is going to gain in value more quickly than a simpsons.

This is like choosing between a luxury car and a sports car. Its kind of frustrating.

I remember the first handfull of games I played of TSPP. Disliked very much. Hearing DOH DOH DOH DOH all the freaking time got annoying.

HOWEVER,

I spent a good 3+ hours on it and REALLY started to like it. Another 2 hours on it a couple months later and I've realized I wouldn;t mind owning one.

This game really has a lot going for it. Pretty easy to short change this game unless you spend a good amount of time on it.
