I'm asking because I have a MTC 9000 (Hantarex). The green has to be maxed out to get the picture to look good. I tried a rejuv on it with little luck, green still reads in the BAD even after the rejuv.

Does a cap kit fix issues like this? I wanted to check before I went through that process if the tube is just pretty much done.

Thanks.

Ed

caps can help, but its usually all affected, not just one color if that makes sense..

if the green reads dead there you go, its not the answer you want but it is THE answer..

keep going, you cant hurt it at this point.. try turning up the heater a little more than specified, try a slightly higher g1 voltage... youll prolly smoke the tube but again you might just save it..

You can also try the redneck method, rapid tapping on the neckboard with a screwdriver handle(think using the screwdriver as a drumstick.. some guys neck thier tubes, some guys save em, sometimes nothing works and your just sol. It happens, but i wouldnt give up quite yet.

This has to be one of the most amazing replies to a question I have posted :). Thanks so much.

When you say heater and g1 voltages "slightly" higher, what does that mean? Is like going form 6.3 to 6.5 for heater. I don't know how drastically these setting change, I usually just follow my instruction sheet with the rejuv.

I must know more about this drum stick approach. Rapid tapping while it's on? On the bottom of the neck board (so you are knocking it into the tube) or on the edge? What is the reasoning behind this?

drum sticking(lols) ... not on the neckboard.

At a right angle to the neck, so your hitting it like your trying to neck it, but not that hard of course. and with it on is best...

The idea is that tapping on it shakes everything in there/vibrates it enough to knock off whatevers messing up the gun. helps if gains are cranked to max during this process. Some (including myself) have has great success. Some(inclusing myself) have had no success. Some(inclusing myself) have necked the damn thing in the process. Be prepared, it could happen.

As far as cranking up voltage goes yeah just go slow if your heater calls for 6.3 i wouldnt push it past like 6.7 at least to start, if g1 calls for 50v try like 55-60to start..

If your to the point of "nothing is frickin working", then go balls out like 8 or 9 for heater, 75-80 or so for g1. Itll probhably totally nuke it, but as a last resort, what the hell. keep in mind to get an accurate reading when your done youll have to reset everything back to normal levels...
